This is cool - but wondering if its worth it to just get a single channel with what the shipping costs are going to be. May be better to just pony up the extra for the 2 channel fella. I know it must be hard if the prices are always changing, but it would be cool to have some sort of shipping calculator on the Stam site so you can see what the real world price on the pieces of gear will be. It will be roughly 65 dollars to the US and 75 to Europe!

Cool new product! Hope these are made with pride and care and everyone gets a stellar working, sounding , and yes stellar looking SA-73. I agree with Jeremy about the shipping. Idk if it costs more to ship from Chile than us but prices are def odd ( more info below ) I really hope this product is a success so companies like Aurora and Heritage lower their prices ( I'm dreaming I know it won't happen π ) I have been a supporter of Stam because of the sound quality of the units I have seen and used. I have voiced my interest in the business improvements ( bad delays, communications, attitude towards paying customers ) for the sake of Stam Audio longevity as a profitable business How do you know when it will actually ship other than emailing repeatedly until you finally get a response that your unit has been sent ( my experience) ! OT: For stam I can send my SA4000 with the weight Stam quotes (11kg ) to Australia via USPS priority with 650 dollars if insurance for less than $100 USPS, the same post Stam uses. My unit was $100 from Chile to Atlanta π€π€π€π€ and it did not arrive in the time frame I was quoted that my package would take to get to AUS... Still I praise Stam' product and offer my unbiased advice. The biz side and communication is horrible, products that I have used punch above their price point by far.

Shipping to Southern California; SA2A $100.00 per unit SA4000 $ 90.00 per unit. Shipping definitely needs to be figured into the price.

I reply to all clients the same day, no exceptions. I treat all clients the same way and to the best of my capabilities, we have a lot of clients, I sometimes struggle to see where all of this comes from, however, the customer is always right and I guess I will have to do my best to keep improving on that. We are not a big company with people who can reply to emails all day or focus on customer service, we dont have the resources for that, I have to handle everything myself and sometimes it is hundreds of emails every day.
With regards to shipping I am not sure I follow, you can ship an SA4000 from the US to Australia for 100 dollars with USPS? What has that got to do with shipping from Chile?, we do not use USPS by the way, we use correos de chile which probably has their own pricing structure, national carriers just deliver on each country (Chronopost, USPS, Parcel Force etc...)

Hey Stam check with carriers such as Fedex. To ship 1 package is price prohibitive but if you have an account and ship a lot the price falls significantly. I can ship a 10kg package by Fedex from Denmark to almost anywhere for about 50 dollars. Danish postal service would be at least double that.

I saw the shipping pricing on a facebook post and shipping to Europe was cheaper then shipping to Canada which is closer. It adds $150 usd to the price. I was wondering if duties were included but obviously the landed price climbs a lot ( plus 30-40%) due to shipping, currency conversion and duties/taxes. The pre seems very competitively priced but I find these shipping charges are getting significant. I sent something for a mod recently and the total cost of the shipping was more than the mod I think all the US shippers must give people within the US better prices but others get hit shipping internationally ? I am sincerely interested in more OB gear and but paying a 30-40% premium each time is certainly putting a damper on that. I woud seriously encourage you, Stam and other manufacturers, to explore cheaper shipping charges. I find lots of manufacturers don't seem to completely understand how prices outside the US are affected in total by these variations. I believe our friends in Europe and other parts of the world pay an even higher premium.

There are a couple of other factors you must consider. The value of the package also determines the shipping cost because the shipper might be liable if it's damaged or lost. They rarely cover the whole cost of the item and buying insurance, tracking numbers, etc. add costs also. I recently worked on and then shipped a pair of Siemens SM204's ( early C12's) to Berlin. the shipping cost was more than 300 USD because the value of the mics was in excess of 25,000 dollars.
When I ship a capsule to the US the shipping cost is 20 dollars. If you ship the same capsule back to me by my Fedex account the return shipping is 36 dollars.

Hey Stam,
I ordered two 1073s ...will that increase the shipping charges? Curious, now, to see how much money I should budget.
Thanks, M

If you order 2 units shipping decreases significantly, the heavier it gets the less it costs. One dual channel unit to the US is about 125 dollars I believe and 2 units would be about 175 dollars, which is just 87.5 dollars each for 7KG via air. One single is abut 70 for one and 50 each if you get 2. Same applies to all units. Canada is more expensive than Europe probably because it has to go through more routes. LAN has direct flights to Madrid and Frankfurt and to Miami as well, these commercial flights carry your units. For Canada you need an extra plane from Miami to weherever before being passed to Canadian Post. Correos de Chile is the cheapest option, DHL is 300 dollars for one unit to the US and 350 dollars to Europe. People seem to forget that Chile is really far away, this is why I offer pre-order disccounts on top of already extremely cheap pricing considering the quality of the components we are using, my aim is that the total cost will always be below 1k for whatever product. We use the same parts as BAE, AMS Neve and Heritage which cost 3 times as much and there is no difference in quality at all, in fact our Sowter version is actually closer sounding to our vintage 1073 than any other clone I have tried and that is a big statement! We also have a US technician for repairs which are covered by us, both shipping and the bill if any problem arises with the unit. The same applies to Canada and mainland Europe.

Not sure what I said that made you upset, I do my best to be friendly and respectful and I also want to provide my experience. That is all. No personal attacks, no disrespect I don't do that. As of March 5th you have ignored everyone of my emails, while the other recipient of those same emails responds every time. Have you received parts to finish building the SA4000's? If not, do you know when you will because reddirt is ready to purchase my SA4000 still and we have been waiting on you to proceed... As far as my support: I posted a thread in the What Are You Working On forum regarding Mastering with my SA4000 ( which I love on my Mixbus as well ) I posted the chains as well as the settings with the SA4000 and have received a lot of compliments and inquiries regarding the unit.

As of march 5th I have ignored your emails? It is 1pm here on March 6th and yesteday was Sunday, my day off, I am not ingoring, I will reply as soon as I see your email, I have 150 to reply to now while soldering transformers to the 1073 units and my main engineer for quality control is in hospital for 10 days, thus things are quite busy right now.
I have no problem with you at all but you call by business and communitacion skills horrible, I dont consider that friendly at all, just because I represent a brand does not mean I will act in a friendly way if treated unkindly, you get what you give, you be nice and I will be nice too, I am a guy making gear, not a big company with a customer service team and I also happen to be humman and can get offended if called horrible at doing my job.
I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks

But some of us here are your friends, stam, so remember... we got your back. I know and I have said it before you want to either build something, or sell something you have to have thick skin! You can't please everybody all the time! Somewhere along the line, somebody is going to say something negative, well most out there understand that and brush it off! BUT ANYTIME YOU AS A BUISNESS COME ACROSS AS BEING IN THE LEAST BIT JERKISH IN A VENUE THAT EXISTS FOR EVER IT REINFORCES THOSE NEGATIVES TIMES 100! I'm rooting for Stam, but he has to realize 2 things. 1. He is his own worst enemy. 2 build a product is less than 1/2 of being a manufacturer! It sucks! This is why either the sales guy is the Highest paid person or people hire a distributor! On more than one occasion I have heard a designer say the cost of somebody else who can deal with the BS is worth every penny! Even if Josh builds a better product, it won't matter if he can't deal with people in a way that leaves people happy and if they are not happy leaves those reading what went on thinking they should be happy! The highest cost for a gear seller or manufacturer is customer acquisition! Weather Joshua realizes it or not his primary investment in this area is time and loss of revenue by choosing his price point! The funny thing is by choosing a Lower price point he has bought into a customer base that expects everybody to make them feel the way they expect to feel about every purchase ! Pros and consumers at a higher price point understand what it's like to deal with small boutique vendors. Walmart, and Target customers expect what they think the experience! Part of pricing any product has to include the cost of dealing with customers and problems ! That's why many small builders are at a higher price point ! The BS factor or paying somebody who can deal with it ! No I don't want the job ! If we want to see Stam survive we can't gloss over this stuff, Stam needs to learn to deal with this stuff founded or unfounded because it's out their and it's part of doing Buisness!

Why not just price the unit such that shipping is a flat $20 around the world? Claiming it'll cost $399 but shipping is $100 isn't really being honest to the customer.
Your pricing seems like you took pricing lessons from GainSaver.com lol

That alone will save time figuring out all the different shipping costs . If some people pay a little extra than oh well....it's too complicated to get exact shipping rates for each customer . a lot of online component stores charge a flat $8 for the cheapest shipping even if you order 1 little capacitor . They don't have time to deal with it all . $8 is the cheapest shipping period .

I agree. I'm not in the market for this (I have a pair of AML ez1073-500s and a bunch of CAPI gear), but I am way more excited about seeing a flat product price vs. a before-tax-before-shipping fee as the listed price.
I'd much rather purchase something that costs me exactly $599 if it says "only $599 s/h included", compared to something that's $499 and when I add it to my cart and go thru check-out, it actually costs $622.38 because S/H was $50, and the local tax was $72.38. It's like when you buy a car and the dealer throws on a ton of extra charges. Tax, Destination Fee, Inspection Fee, paperwork Fee, cleaning fee. Sure, it started out as $19,999, but became $22898.64 when you signed the dotted line...

They charge $8 to the US, from the US. The buyer who's in Europe, he'll have to pay $30 to ship that 1 little capacitor. Stam is not in the US.
