...thread disappeared, but wanted to congratulate Bobby Rush on a big win, beating out Joe Bonamassa for the Traditional Blues award. 83 years old and rocking it. Really cool to see an old dude killing it like this. http://instagram.com/p/BLe7Vq_hzec

As I have been saying all year let's just be honest and call them the Adele Awards!

Whoever is voting, I'm sure it's like voting in the old USSR Kremlin under the watchful eye of party officials. They are directed how to vote and dare not go against what is divined.
Remember Milli Vanilli? There's your Grammy's for you.
and guess what? BRUNO MARS GUITAR PLAYING SUCKS

Grammy's are kinda weird with the voting. Doesn't everyone vote for every genre? Or is it just the genre that votes? In the past that's why you've seen older artists continue to win - just because of name recognition. "Oh - I've heard of Dolly Parton...I'll vote for her." (This is not a diss on Dolly - I love Dolly...)

It's voted on by peers (past winners, and labels) and while you do get emails from labels and artist asking for vote consideration, there's no one threatening you to vote one way or the other, at least not in our world (I'm sure labels have artist they favor). I think it's a pretty democratic system.
Being in the audience last night, Adele's opening performance, A Tribe Called Quest and Bruno Mars were the stand outs live. Having worked on the record I hope Sturgill Simpson went over well on TV, live he had the disadvantage of almost 40 people on stage playing actual live music, and it was as brutally loud as what came before it. Some poor sound guys probably got fired and an epic tongue lashing from James Hatfield, he was irate and probably after the cameras cut away threw his guitar off stage, and Beyoncé probably went over better on TV because love it was just a blurry screen for most of it. But, yes, everyone in the audience was in love with Adele and Beyoncé...I don't think those two can do any wrong in most people's eyes.

I couldn't believe they had the Island in the middle after last year, no Less Adele out on it! The thing is honestly they have gotten way to in to spectacular and that causes simple stupid glitches! I couldn't believe with the Women in some of those heels they would use stairs backstage! Ramps eliminate simple problems! Screw the Packaged "Grammy moments" they have a way of sucking! But hey we know Adele was really live!

Of course if you disagree, they're 'so-called' judges.

A lot of it is Name recongnition, it's a popularity contest! I miss the days of making congratulations and "you were robbed" calls! I had a coworker who cracked up when I was telling somebody they were robbed and then was on the phone with who ever beat them, oh the egos!

The number of genres you can vote in is limited but everybody votes for the big awards.

The 2 legends in the TIME are Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, some screen time of the guys who have some little statues might be nice! But hey definitely no pot belly on GAGA!

I belonged to NARAS in the day. I attended the Grammys once at Radio City. It was fun for a night. If you were a NARAS member, you could order any LP under consideration for a buck. You got a ballot and could vote for anything. I suspect a lot of members vote without having listened to the nominees. I guess in the streaming age you could easily check out what all the nominees sound like. Back then you couldn't without having the records.
Oh, and you got to vote to nominate artists too.

I thought Tribe Called Quest killed it and Metallica/Gaga was very entertaining as I would expect. Haven't watched Adele yet. For some reason I don't get Beyonce, just not my style I guess. If you want to get a headache and laugh a lot go to YouTube and troll through the Beyonce comments... people are calling her "demonic" it's hilarious.

I thought Beyonce's performance was way to High on concept rather than high concept, reminded me why every concept album was so much better high or drunk!
