Thanks man. I'm out for awhile. What happened? I broke a finger playing football last week. Can't imagine a femur.

I just finished a show with my band saiudrom and i was making tea when my 18 yr old dog slipped up behind me in the kitchen. It was 4am. I turned around and almost stepped on her but instead moved too far with my left foot then tried to catch my balance with my right and just went down at the worst angle. I broke my femur bone in half 2 inches below my hip and the bottom half rotated 90 degrees. The surgeons put a plate that reattaches the femur then a further 5 rods that will permenently hold the two together.

Right now and for at least a week i cant get to the studio. I had to make the call and kept one client that wasnt for 2 weeks but i had to sell one client to a friend (we only had 7 hrs and a lot of conversation) and suggest to another client on a deadline some avenues (including one of the pro facilities). Without me at the controls he was gonna need people with real experience. I'm not knocking pro home studio owners but most often they arent gonna be able to give a client what they need. Im lucky i have the space i do and the abilities to work in other rooms if i need to. There is a lot of bs home studios playing like they're super experienced engineers/producers. Usually they are a complete disappointment. There's also some really experienced and solid small studios/engineers in Mpls as well. Lucky for me i know a few. Anyway. Yeah life sucks right now. My other job is giving me my pto i had been saving up for touring and India in March. Not happening now. And Ive also got the mixer im building on the bench for a good while now. It'll be sitting there untouched for at least a week. I was saving up for an Apogee DA16x but I might buy a microphone parts kit cause im gonna probably need all the money i can get. I dont know. Im bummed.

Damn. So sorry to hear this. I broke mine in 1996, right in half. I wasn't even lucky enough to have a fracture. They put three titanium rods in my leg. I thought maybe they were the size of a nail, or even a pencil, but their so huge, I don't know how they even got them in there. I didn't know that a year later they could be removed, to I'd have opted for that. It's the worst the first 4 -5 days. The first day or two, you think you will fall if you put wight on it, but you won't, the rods are stronger than your bones, but it hurts like hell.
Good luck, let us know how it's going. I'm sending some get well, heal well vibes right now.

Woke up with pain in my right shoulder couldn't lift anything wife got me an appointment with a hand surgeon if she would stay late so he could do a procedure on another patient, tell him about median nerve damage the fact that the Ulner was moved after they removed the calcium deposit in the right elbow and all the other burn damage, did an X-ray couldn't give me any additional pain meds gave me a cortazone shot, said " well I hate to say it but, your screwed, with the pancreatitis I can't give you more seteriods " I do love an honest Doc It feels better today, let's hope it stays that way!

Sorry to hear about it, rocinante, and erin, hope you heal well. Life at some point is largely avoiding calamity instead of taunting it.
