Great Susan Rogers interview in current TapeOp

As record makers we need to recognize we're making a product where we don't know who's going to consume it, or when, or what they're going to want.  We're making a product that is not absolutely necessary for human survival.  We could live without music.  We're making a product there's already too much of.  We're making an unnecessary product, in a market that's totally glutted, for people who have more than they need of it already.  There's no job security there.
