Interesting, thanks John. I don't have much need for emulations of other classic speakers, but I imagine some might. It looks a bit like my Avantone Abbey, which are $1,500 less expensive and still sound good to me after a year and a half. It's not often you don't get GAS with anything, so the Abbey must be doing something right ;-)
It'll be fun to hear these for sure.

Well dam those look amazing!!! I want to hear them! 😁😱I wonder how the side woofers sound compared to the mm45's front firing ( I am used to this with my monitors ) Any feedback? I been dreaming of mm45's for a long time.... Could this be my cheaper equal quality replacement, $3500 could be squeezed more than $6000... Man VK/ Zen Pro is 7 hours one way but dang I want to hear these.. I know it will take awhile for reviews to roll in...
I don't know, if I'm spending $3500 I'm hoping I would be in the pro level, entry level, still pro. Would hate to spend $3500 only to turn around and have to flip them get mm45's for $5500-$5990...
Why is the mid above the tweeter? They say, " it creates the acoustic focus to the center of the cabinet."
The subs being in the sides makes it vertical orientation only...

Tweeter is placed like that under the assumption that most folks put the monitors on top of a console of some kind, so that it's more in line with the ear. Also, tweeter placement on the face of the speaker cabinet is non-trivial and the design needs to take into account beaming and other issues that can arise. What I find interesting is the midrange.. Aluminum cone, aluminum phase plug.. Looks a lot like the Dayton metal coned drivers..

( most studio monitors larger woofer fires forward) When a manufacturer specifies a monitor to be used horizontal only, I assume that is the design and purpose of the monitor ( Adam horizontal, barefoot mm45's, focal twin )

( most studio monitors larger woofer fires forward) When a manufacturer specifies a monitor to be used horizontal only, Not sure of the direct reason why they mounted the woofers on the sides, but it becomes harder and harder to distinguish directionality as you go down in frequency, so below a certain point, it's not a huge deal that the woofers don't point directly at you.

My Avantone Abbey's have side firing speakers too. They don't seem to affect directionality negatively at all. In fact, one thing I really like is that although these can be seen as a mid-field monitor, they image beautifully, even if your head is only 2' away. For my stereo system, i have a small REL subwoofer. It's the only one I know of that can connect two ways, one, the typical.1 subwoofer cable, and the other, a neutrik speakon cable wire that piggybacks on top of your speaker wire. So, it's getting the exact signal your speakers are at the same time. REL calls their subwoofers Ambience Retrieval Systems. When I remove the subwoofer, the sense of the space collapses, turn it back on, it's 3D again. So, having speakers go down as low as the Abbey's definitely gives me better imaging and sense of the space than my previous Adam A7X monitors. I bet these Barefoots do something similar.

My question is, what's the compromise here? It's got a 1", 4", and 8", so it's not like some mini desktop monitor with only a 5". Why are these $3500 when the next model up is $6k? Sure, they don't look as sexy. Obviously a different woofer and tweeter since there isn't any color in them and different mid because the size is different. Wonder how they sound. Wonder how the more expensive ones sound too. noah shain, you've got Barefoot right? What model are you bumping? Ever directly compare with other stuff?

Yeah, I have the mm27s. There's 2 woofers per speaker. They're opposed to each other and are always moving in the opposite direction from one another. They cancel each other's vibration. It's wild. You can crank them all the way up and the cabinet doesn't vibrate AT ALL. I think that's why they built them opposed, to limit cabinet vibration. They weigh, o think, 70 lbs each.
My are gen 1. I like them. I know with gen 1s some people mount them horizontally. Don't know if you can with these.
I'm gassing for ATCs now though. It's not you barefoot, it's me. I just need some space.

My choice if price were no object would be ATC. I haven't heard the barefoot's though, and I don't feel the least bit compromised with the Abbey.

What a suprise..
Nice to see an affordable option out there..
I own the mm45 monitors, had previously owned the 27 Gen 1 when they were first released for a few years but changed over to the 45's when they were released as the 27's were too big sounding over time for my small room.
Have really enjoyed the detail / translation in the 45's over the past year or so.. Not as boomy as the old 27's in my room. I have them paired with a pair of old horrortones, so don't require the meme.

I want these, I wonder how the 250hz crossover will sound though... idk would I feel like I should have got mm45... don't want to feel like I purchased a compromise at $3500 but hey that's the difference $2500 makes... I will have to hear both, just got to figure out how to get both in my room without having to purchase both and return one and possibly face restocking or open boxing fees.... ATL sucks as far as real gear stores... Atl pro audio doesn't stock anything and everything is a special order that will be docked for return shipping and or restocking/ shipping and possibly an open box charge..
