So back in September I posted that I was selling gear to feed the family, but got an extension on my contract and pulled it thinking there was hope in the future. I was wrong and my heartless boss had no problem letting me go a week before Christmas. Lots of jobs hire around then let me tell you!
I went through a lot of depressive thinking and actions and didnt get online much. It's embarrassing when you are a sole provider for a family. I have missed really participating and find I get online when I work the most. I'm looking forward to February because I start a new job January 30th!
Can't wait to see what's going on with you guys again. I know a lot of you people get in a similar way frequently. It's good we have a place to ignore real life, talk shop, and dream of expensive gear purchases, and sometimes make them anyway. Rock.

Congrats on the new job!! Embarrassment, shame and fear for that matter, though hard to snap out of, are pretty unfruitful states of mind.. I'm thinking, despite his grotesqueness Donald Trump doesn't have an ounce of it, so why should anyone? :-)

Embarrassment, or the fear of, can be a great motivator. For me at least.
Congrats on doing what you needed to do during the hard times and landing yourself new work. Hope it turns out great for you!

I know how you feel. Toughest conversation of my life was with my wife and small kid at the dinner table one night when she asked me where the next check was coming from. I didn't have an answer.
So glad you have started a new engagement. End-of-contract time never feels very good.

So far, the new company has been impressively cool. I almost gave up on corporate jobs, but this may hold through for once! |
