Wondering if anyone knows of an omni mic with rising bass response. Like a typical card plot but omni.
Looking to try some new room mics. Ev re55 and Shure sm80 are on my list to try but they are flat through the bass freq.

Actually just double checked and the Shure does have rising bass response.
Any others that people know of.
Cheers.

I've been looking for an M50 style microphone to build a decca tree with. I'd be curious to hear what everybody thinks.

The Oktava omni capsule may have slightly rising bass response, it at least has more greatly extended lows than many. I'm sure you've tried it.
Is the basic sonic character of the SM80 like the SM81? I'd forgotten there was an SM80.

I posted this in another thread.
"Jeremygillespie, I agree with you about a stock NT1a but I've modded many by changing out the capsule and they can sound terrific. They are an extremely clean, transformerless preamp mated to one of the worst capsules I've heard. I recently converted a pair to omni, using my capsules for a bluegrass band. It made me lust after a pair myself."
Buy a pair of these, have somebody tweek a couple of capsules for you and install them as omni's. You'll have some surprisingly wonderful sounding mics.

I'd forgotten there was an SM80. that's a great idea, I've not used my stock mk012 on rooms only the modified ones and they roll off slightly. I've not heard either the sm81 or the sm80. yet... :-) I did some more digging and it appears the ksm141 has a rising bass response. that's good because the ksm137 is one of my favourite mics so i'll need to add that to the list.

I would be keen to explore an nt1a Omni mod with a rising bass response.
