I find the Maag EQ2 is definitely on my radar. I love that it just has the high and low bands although I wish the low one was cut and boost. Nevertheless, along with the volume attenuation it looks like a killer EQ to add inline, especially after a pre.
I love the overall design of the Electra but I've passed on it because it's not stepped. I'd kill for a stepped or switched version of the Electra! I know it fits Greg's aesthetic which is that he doesn't care if the L & R sides don't match and he doesn't care if you can't recall 100% but for me I have to have 100% recall and I can't be stressed jumping through hoops to match sides 100% - although that goes for any variable EQ in my opinion. I pass on all of them because I need to match sides 100% right away. I get crazy deadlines and believe it or not, a lot of the deadlines I get I really don't have time to run tones through the EQ. I had a Clariphonic and although it sounded great I ended up selling it because I couldn't waste time matching the sides and getting frustrated over recalls on that so I ended up not using it more than using it - which is a shame because it is a great piece. I wish Greg would get on a mastering version of that with stepped or switched pots.
It's all moot for masterbus though since I use an Elysia Museq which in my opinion is one of the most killer clean EQs I've ever encountered. Unfortunately it has a price tag to match! But in the past year and the half of owning one, it's worth every penny and then some.
I'm more looking for stepped channel EQs at this point. I'm thinking of maybe a Maag EQ2 in conjunction with another stepped EQ. Pricey but it could work nice.
The Elysia XFilter looks great for stereo tracks. No matching sides and it's stepped but still with a huge amount of options frequency-wise. Maybe that with a Maag EQ2. Elysia's got the clean thing down pat. My Museq can eq tracks to the extreme and it always sounds like you tracked it like that, that it's not EQ'd so I'm sure the Xfilter's no different. That might make for a nice paring with the EQ2 since both are so clean and hi-fi.
I know the EQ4 is stepped but I'm not sure how I'd get on with the fixed frequencies. I should demo those first maybe before I try to come up with some kind of an EQ2 / Stepped EQ FrankenEq.
Of course the above is in reference to mixing and not tracking. Unfortunately for the deadlines I get, the tracking turns into mixing! But I should pick up some single EQs for tracking a mono source without worrying about recall for the few times I get that luxury.
I still would love to see a stepped version of the Electra. Especially because it has a HP filter.

Frank
