I saw this thread but I didn't see anybody using it successfully on a phone. I just want a small, portable device so that I can record my vocals and acoustic guitar in the tracking room by myself.

I could never really get along with the "non-tactile" feel of the iPad or iPhone...and the weird fear I have of keeping a device on without it being able to sleep. There's got to be a name for that. I just got a Bluetooth keyboard and use it like a regular keyboard.

I did the Bluetooth keyboard thing for self recording for awhile works great once you get used to it. I don't see why PT and other daws don't have a way to blue tooth the timer app from the phone to sync with the daw host so you could start/ record/ stop the main transport for solo recording from the phone app... setting a decent count in can help accommodate self recording as well...

Or, have another screen where you record in the room? I want something small where I can see the software and be able to enable the track to record on and hit the record on the transport. I assumed the V Control did this. Apologies if I misunderstood. I can use the Remote Connections on my laptop to control my main computer and have a screen, but I'd like something smaller if possible.

Well I usually record in the same room so, I can kindve see the screen, but mostly I just use the keyboard like a transport. So if you're wanting to do more, the neyrink is definitely good.
