Happy New Year to RGO'ers, all!
I wanted to let the RGO community know about Pueblo Audio's new products coming early in the new year.
First to be released shall be the OLLA: Hybrid DI Box (pronounced oi-ya). Providing Passive, Active and Speaker level modes. Capable of accepting Unbalanced Instrument Level; to Balanced Line Level; to 1000W Head Amp signals at the turn of a single, rotary control (which includes selectable Ground Lift). Its sound is full and concise, preserving the tone and phrasing of the performer. Extremely easy to operate. OLLA is a DI swiss-army knife, offering impedances to support active, passive and piezo pickups. No need for specialized DI's 'cuz OLLA does it all. Projected price $539.
Second product shall be ISLETA: Stereo Battery Powered Mic Preamp. The same quality and credentials as the standard Pueblo JR series preamps. Phantom power on board. Wildly quiet and resolute gain from 0 to +80dB! Stepped rotary gain switches with ±0.1dB matching. Transformer balanced outputs. Buffered auxilary output on mini jack for safety recorders, fx sends, etc. Battery life sustains operation for a marathon 48 to 72 hours (depending on mic phantom draw). Most engineers could operate for a week between charges! Projected price (without batteries/charger) $1099. You can't touch that price-to-peformance ratio even in a 500 series.
The OLLA and ISLETA have been making beta trials around studios and venues across LA. Also film shoots. The feedback has been thrilling. The most recent trial was with engineer Clark Germain (Sting, David Benoit, David Pack, etc.) at United Recorders (formerly Oceanway). His two tracking sessions including recording Michael Bland on drums and Rhonda Smith on bass. ISLETA was used on acoustic piano as well as drum room mics. OLLA was used on Rhonda's bass which Clark reported "sounded massive!" The two sessions totaled >23 hours during which ISLETA was powered on the whole time. It could easily have gone another 23+ hours before needing recharge. Clark was elated and impressed with the sound and loved the ease of set up. Leave the preamp in the studio near the mics, in the control room, or where ever you wish. No dealing with power cords or ground loops. Just connect the XLR's and go. No fuss, no muss. Attached is a pic of the prototype from that session...
