Go...
I really like that it's stereo and I could use it on the 2 bus. What are the opinions on the sound? Cleanish? Thick? Colored?

I use it on the 2bus, followed by a Retro 2A3. It's definitely not clean, but has a nice thick vibe. I only use 2db gain reduction max, most of the time less than that. I found that unlinking both channels yields a better result, at least I liked it more. I also used it on bass once and it was surprisingly good. Doesn't work all the time, but at that moment it sounded great. Don't like it on vocals. But it shines on the 2bus.

Vari-Mu: Variable gain reduction and it takes place within a vacuum tube. Often thought of as "Variable gain starvation" or "Variable Voltage Starvation" it is the same basic principle of starving a tube's plate voltage to reduce gain and a similar principle is applied to electric guitar amps that have "Master Voltage" as opposed to a Master Volume to control output levels and increase distortion. E.G. 65 amps' designs.
Vari-Mu (Variable Level) is not perfectly clean but it doesn't have to sound dirty either. If you're only knocking out 1 to 2 db, you really shouldn't hear any measurable increase in distortion - but you will hear character!

I would like one to add to my Daking FET. Could be a nice combo of flavors.
