Just received this mic a few days ago and man what a gem. Dave really knocked it out of the park with this one. Vocals , Acoustic Guitars, even set it up as a mono room mic for drums and it has excelled at everything so for. My chain for most is AML EZ 1073 - BAE 10DC - VP28 - Symphony Can't say enough about Dave and his Mics If you guys get the chance you should definitely check this mic out it won't disappoint

Any new thoughts on it? How would you compare it to the TM-1 (if you've heard both)? I really like the TM-1 on male vocals, but I was curious how it favors on females. The TM-1 wasn't flattering the female vocalist I tried it on. I apologize before I ask...how would you compare it to a U-47?

What I'm wondering is if it has that mid-rangey u-47 sound, or is it more in line with the smiley face sound of a Peluso 2247?

Do you always use the VP28 after the Comp? Normally if I patch mine in the chain i use it after my heritage 1073 and before comp? Any particular reason for after the comp?

Dave Pearlman has been quoted saying that the TM47 is more vintagey, midrangey and rounder sounding than the TM1.

...a dry, untreated file would be more useful as a reference... ...from my understanding, the TM-47 is really very similar to the earlier TM-1 mics (larger BV-8 tranny and metal tube), but now in a U47-style body...my question is, since there's no omni-pattern or high-cut filter as on the TM-1, which voicing did Dave choose as the fixed-sound for the TM-47...did he go with the more popular, darker voicing of the TM-1 (high-cut engaged), or the more modern voicing sans the high-cut?...or something in between?...

VERY USEFUL. Thank you very much. I learned all I needed to know from that simple sample. The mild amount of reverb on it just gave it a little space. Nothing like listening to a sample that sounds like it was recorded in an anechoic chamber. Now, as for the microphone from what I can hear, it behaves just like a U47. Give it some 300-600hz and it goes "oo yummy, I'll take your 3db of mudrange and give you back 12!" LOL... just a bit of humor. It sounds delicious though. Just a little center mid cut and it would be perfect. Gratitude for your efforts!
