I'm trying to figure out what it is. Do you download their tracks and mix them? I usually call that "work" but maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Looks like, If you join you can receive the individual tracks from various bands. You can then listen to individual tracks and mix them yourself for a learning experience. That's what I get out of it.

I found the videos fun and interesting to watch. It seems like a unique idea. I thought the videos were cool, and seemed like a cool place for new music discovery. I feel like the desktop version had more content, though admittedly, I only browsed for a few minutes before I had to move on.

I was a member when it first started out. thinking I should join in again. I found it a lot of fun. for me invaluable as i'm not a working engineer. to see how, why and what it sounds like from their studio provides another reference point.
not a bad business model either.
I also joined the pro studio site where they have recorded entire tracking and or mixing sessions from legend engineers. I've learnt some very handy stuff there also. mic techniques i'd not known otherwise.
amp settings, gear setup tips etc. with all of these sites I watch learn listen then go and try it out.

I dig the Weathervane thing.
I was a member for a while and learned a lot of things about their production processes and sounds. Much of what I work on is in the hard rock/metal/pop punk worlds where tightness and heavy editing is commonplace. It's really cool to hear their sounds and work to try to get to the same destination by untraining myself to hear only in that semi-polished rock way and move in a more organic direction.
Above all else, they make a lot of decisions I wouldn't make. It's cool to hear the results of those things I wouldn't even try and file that away for a rainy day or an experimental production.
