I enjoy PT and it's 95-97% stable for me and I'm using ( still ) 32 bit PT 10.3.1 with my vintage rtas plugins. You know you want vintage digidesign plugin compressors and gates, can't forget the one band eq or digi de-esser π All jokes aside, it usually hiccups when I been pushing for 6 hrs plus... ( I know should have taken a break 4hrs ago )
Tracking wise, very stable. Only have tracked a few 3 piece and a couple 4 piece band at 96khz ( 8-10 inputs ).
If I was tracking a live band ( 12-15 inputs ) at 96khz, i would be slightly nervous on my mbp / Apollo rig. With UAD console app taking away some stress from PT, I'm sure I could do everything I need to.
I have recorded a few bands, several times on much older macs and PT 7/8 and those versions, especially tdm HD, are dam near flawless setups in my eyes for tracking. I used to use PT 8 ( Le ) for years mixing when lots of AE's shunned any PT that wasn't HD.
Who is using PT 12.4-5-6-7 daily? What's the verdict? Tracking/ Mixing/ Mastering? Anything to voice that's a concern? I'm happy on pt10, and I want to be more happy with pt12, and I don't want to lose stability just for shiny new plugins, meters, VCA tracks ( π ) ( I know there are more features I'm missing π )
I wish PT had the mastering features like studio one 3 pro, maybe Avid can add that to a update. Then I could do everything without adding yet another DAW! ( already own PT, Ableton Live, Reason, Fl Studio, GarageBand ) If I had to pick two PT and Ableton ( creation, producing, performance )
