I think it might be a case of me being too heavy handed with new toys..... 8) I posted two mixes, one without smoothe and one without smoothe and the de esser I was using... I think the main problem was I was ham fisted with the de esser... cheer Wiz I was going to post a soothe and no-soothe version of a tune I am finishing up, but my recording and mixing skills are not nearly as good as yours wiz. I feel like it's easy to over-do things with soothe. Unlike your recordings, where I hear little if anything in the way of room resonances, I'm using soothe to take care of some nasty spikes - and on many channels because I tend to use a lot of acoustic instruments. I'm treating the snot out of my room, but it's not enough (yet). I'll be putting up more panels over the next few weeks, but no doubt, soothe will find its place on most every acoustic instrument I track in the room. It's just incredible how well it works, and though I'm not hearing 'artifacts' I am sensing that overuse can squeeze some life out of things. If donr's words ring true for you, then they do for me 5x over. In your case, I feel like your recordings are so good that you really don't have as much a need for it, but if you do, it might be right for you to re-balance things with another plug somewhere down the line. Anyway, my next step is to look into plugs like Slate's Revival to inject some life back into the tracks. Thanks for checking it out... and the kind words... 8) I think I will end up using it... a little... here and there.. not on vocals (lead vocal anyways) but it will get a go on some other things I think. Good plug. cheers Wiz

no soothe no de ess mix for me all the way, those are the wiz vox I know lol. please god no desser people unless it's izotope that has attack and release times otherwise you are putting a frequency specific limiter on your vox with no parameter control aside from threshold and/ or range. Mc DSP has one Izotope has one And FF pro DS doesn't but works well I hear slight saturation in eioisis from the records i have heard it used on. I concur.... (anyone remember that movie? Leonardo Di Caprio 8) ) cheers Wiz
