Who has jumped on? I think I'm finally going to jump from 11-12. Any issues at this point?

What does avid say about running 12 on mavericks ? There seem to be a lot of problems with the most recent 12.6 ? update

Good luck with PT12. Whenever you decide to upgrade OS X, go straight to Sierra. Don't bother with Yosemite or El Capitan. Yosemite introduced a few graphics slowdowns that most of us developers were eventually able to work around. But El Capitan caused some real issues--sluggish meters, slow GUIs--even on high-spec machines. Apple never admitted to change anything, but Sierra is back to the snappy performance you should be experiencing with Mavericks.

My mac seems much happier on sierra, literally snappier/faster than one el cap. I seem to have some little monitor glitches but performance just seems improved.

Well, we started well, spent a full day tracking guitars without any issues, but I've run into issues now.
First off, my groups no longer have Solo locked. One mix I'm working on has like 15 different groups and solo no longer works in any of them. Easy enough fix, just go in and modify each group to include solo, but still a pain in the balls.
Then, last night I went to open PT and it immediately quit. When I relaunched, none of my "recent projects" were populated in the open recent projects menu. Then, when I open my project, the colors are no longer saturated on the mixer. Again, not a huge deal, but still inconvenient. Then I hooked up to my UH-7000/Svartbox combo and the I/O isn't showing up properly. Normally, for outputs, it shows 2 analog/2 digital, (7000 has 2 analog, Svart is 2 digital). Last night it was showing 4 analog outputs. The Tascam only has 2 analog outputs, not 4. Inputs were showing properly, 2 analog, 2 digital. Can't figure out any way to change how the output is showing. I spent an hour an a half restarting the machine, checking the audio/midi setup, the Tascam setup, reconnecting cables, power cycling the converters, creating an aggregate device (this had 3 analog outs and 1 digital, still screwey) etc, couldn't get it working right. Got frustrated and gave up for the night. Curious what other settings are boned now too. Total PITA.
I just set up Reaper on another laptop and will try testing the converter setup with that this weekend. Also, I have a second UH-7000 unit here at the office that I'll bring home and test with the PT setup.

Yikes, what a bummer. Trash preferences? I'm sure you did and did everything under the sun. Fresh install? IDK, it weird how it progressed and kept getting worse for you before you could troubleshoot the beginning issues. I would be perplexed as well. From avid: Mac: IntelĀ® Mac with Mac OS X 10.8.5 (only supported below Pro Tools 12.5), 10.9.5, 10.10.5, 10.11.6 or 10.12 (only supported with Pro Tools 12.6 and above) avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Compatibility/Pro-Tools-Operating-System-Compatibility-Chart

I'm on 10.9.5, so there is no problem there. Clean OS install is out. I guess I could remove PT and reinstall, but I don't have much faith in that. Also, I'm seeing that there are additional gain reduction meters now that weren't showing before. Plugin compressors now show a little GR meter on the insert slot along with a GR meter near the main meter on the mixer window. Cool feature, but didn't have it the other day.

Just to keep this out there. I did some more testing tonight. The rMBP (my main machine with PT12) still isn't playing right with my Tascam UH-7000 after updating from PT11. I've tested with both of my Tascam interfaces now and outputs 3/4 are showing as analog, not digital, in Pro Tools I/O setup.
I did a clean install of Sierra with Reaper and the Tascam driver. Smooth sailing there. Interface is working properly, so it seems like the issue is with PT, not the interface.
Reaper looks like a hot mess as a first impression though. I need to dig into some layout and preference stuff, but it didn't seem intuitive.

This was my impression when I helped a local kid on a session. It worked but it looked like Greek! I have also had some issues with exported "sessions" from reaper. They were all user error, bit not a fan of a program that can't export an OMF file.

Now I've reinstalled PT11 and the color saturation and solos are back to working as expected with a session that hadn't seen 12. That's a plus. Hopefully, my UH-7000 will go back to working properly with 11.

Plugged in the UH-7000/Svartbox combo with the reinstalled PT11 and everything was cool. I/O is back to working like normal.
