Misleading? There's nothing misleading whatsoever. It's plain boilerplate product release language that you can read in every press release out there. This is a microphone that has the ability to work without a mic pre if you so choose. If you don't want to buy, that's certainly your right. And btw - you ARE getting a mic and a mic pre. This mic pre only works with this mic.

So don't call it a mic pre. It IS misleading language, it's not actually a mic pre, or a straight REDD.47 (it lacks the input transformer which is a huge part of the sound, also completes the definition of the circuit in question), it's a 'head amp' based on a REDD.47. The language is vaguely suggestive, compounded by the fact direct questions about the technology have not been directly answered. It shouldn't take a representative from Barnum & Bailey to sell a good product, and when it looks like Barnum & Bailey are involved, it cheapens the perception. Proof is of course in the pudding, but the advertising shouldn't misstep into questions about the relative honesty of the claim.
This is the closest to a fully truthful statement, as far as can be discerned: The following are all misleading, if you know anything about the tech. If you don't know anything about the tech and you take these statements at face value, you've been misled by vague and leading language. Doesn't matter how good or bad the product is, those are separate issues.

Ok. To each their own. I guess people pooping in an announcement thread just strikes me as bad form.

Where exactly is it we should raise flags? This is where they'll see the criticism, which is constructive.

Maybe hold off on the criticism until you've actually heard it. But hey - maybe that's just me.

Hearing it has NOTHING to do with the criticism. How is that not clear? I could love the mic and still have the same criticism.

Chandler does have a high pedigree to fulfill and they have no issue selling units that cost more than this mic just using the parts, circuit, and of course great SQ. The marketing blurbs caught me off guard too, Chandler prides themselves in craftsmanship and build + sound quality so that's why I expected a parts/ components list as the marketing. If one isn't as educated as we are here at RGO, they may purchase this mic thinking the are buying a Redd47 pre in a mic when the Redd pre completes the circuit + can add extra gain to achieve line level and coloration. I mean hey ( puts flame coat on and grabs extinguisher ) The Beatles Vox never struck me as the pinnacle of vocal sound but that's subjective just like how the marketing affects us Still think this will be a huge hit 😃🤑 Bring on the audio clips Por Favor

Maybe hold off on the criticism until you've actually heard it. But hey - maybe that's just me. I'm not criticizing the mic - quite the contrary. I've stated several times that given the pedigree I'd be very surprised if it wasn't a great mic. What I'm criticizing is that a great mic from a respected company shouldn't need the GC style sales-weasel speak. If anything it cheapens the image of the product - which should not be. A simple insertion of a few words would make all the difference. Rather than claiming that it has a built-in Redd 47 they should have simply said something like "employing circuitry derived from the legendary Redd 47 preamp" or some such.

I'm of the opinion that every piece of gear they've ever made that I've had the change to use has been absolutely stellar. I wouldn't let a marketing snafu keep me from trying one out.
Seriously - their track record is amazing. Marketing is marketing. Doesn't bother me one bit.
Excited to hear it.

I would maybe call it a "modified" or "miniaturized" REDD 47 preamp or something like that to be a little more clear about what is, and is not, included.
I'm not sure where the line is between technical correctness and simplicity of marketing speak for the general user.

Well, only one word can describe a microphone that isn't a vintage clone, is built in a U47 bodykit, and sounds like a 251:
Confused
