Burned it all the way down. Not a term I usually think about for a mostly acoustic duo. Her supporting guitarist Dave Pulkingham is a monster in whichever style of guitar he chooses to touch, ranging from nylon Flamenco to Jeff Beck style sound effects. Captivating performance from them both, beginning to end.
In hindsight sorta made the Jason Isbell show I caught recently seem more like I'd seen Journey in '79, big bombastic fanfares for the average joe.
Other two shows of the last 30 days were PJ Harvey and Guided By Voices. I'd take the Patty experience over all of them if I could only keep one. GBV still do a marathon 50+ song event and at 59-60 Pollard can sing with power beginning to end, definitely the old school rock show that seems mostly in the distant past. PJ gets kinda weirder and more serious all the time, fantastic band and show, 10 piece with everyone playing multiple instruments well, percussion heavy in approach.

I guess Bob Pollard didn't retire after all?

Well, this week at least. What did they do, 3 or 4 farewell tours in the last 10 years? Even stranger, Bobby Bare Jr is in GBV these days, just playing guitar and doing some BGV's. He was the opener on the GBV tour 2 years ago which was abruptly cancelled when that lineup split up.
