Here is a new song. I tracked and reamped as normal. But this time, I used Slates VMR to mix. Which really consists of instantiating the VCC 2.0 set to Trident, with the Drive up around 15. There is also 2 SSL EQs in the VMR one on the bass, and one on the main vocal. I then used the Slate Grey Bus Compressor on the Two Buss. On the main vocal and backing vocals is REPEATER.. the new delay. I set it to two presets, the main vocal got the CLA 1/8ths preset, which sounds incredible and is why I bought the plug in. The backing vocals got one of the backing vocal presets.... all I did on the delays was adjust the mix knob and level to taste. Of course, the emperors new toys always sound amazing 8) and time will tell if this stuff stays in my work flow... But I must say, I am really impressed by VCC 2 (each of the different models made the tune sound different, with the Trident this time being the stand out.) and the DRIVE control on it was key to dealing it in. VCC2 changes what you would eq .. so I can see why you put it on at the start of the mix. The REPEATER I love... I hope at some point it can be put in as a STEREO effect rather than just MONO to STEREO in Logic Pro X stevenslate is that possible? Here is the tune Nero and The Joker Wiz

I downloaded it - stuck it in my DAW. Only way to compare was to put the console mix of Lay Down in on another track. Nero has that "glued" sound (maybe a tad too much), but I thought your vox were more "open" on Lay Down and cut through better. Head for the middle

Love your songwriting and playing. Your tracks that I have heard are very well recorded as well. Do I smell a Nero and the Joker Slate Only mix thread Did you face any work arounds by limiting yourself to Slate only plugs? Did you find added benefit to your workflow aside from VCC 2.0? My opinion on this he current mix: The ld vocal could be a little more upfront for my taste, the guitars are masking it a bit during the chorus as well as the BG vox being hard panned seemed to widen the Vox too much losing the center focus. Feel like a nice plate send ( or adding +3db to it ) for LD vox would have added the 3D ness as well.

What was Lift modeled after? At first glance it's the Pultec EQp1A , but it doesn't have the boost/attenuate dynamic. I don't know of any analog two knob hardware that's an EQ. So, a bit stumped by this one.

So, a bit stumped by this one. Not modeled after anything. I think they use bits of code they've developed for other plugs for stuff like Lift, Revival and the Custom Series EQ. Which I'm not knocking and it's a total guess. Makes for unique ITB tools.

Very cool track, Wiz! I'm diggin REPEATER! I'm not sure if it's the general level in the mix or what the bus comp is doing, but I wish the Ld VOX was a tad higher in the mix. Regardless, awesome job!
