Another Great has left us Leon Russell, I know he had health problems last few years RIP. Getting really tired of these threads , but we owe those who have come before us so much.

He would play the small clubs in Tulsa When in town usually had Carl Radle on bass , Chuck Blackwell drums ,Dicky Simms keys (all from Eric Clapton ) and all from Tulsa One of my bucket list was marked off when I had the chance to engineer at Leon's old Church studio in Tulsa , Sadly long after Leon had left town but still was a special place Here a link to the legendary people who recorded there it's an impressive list www.travelok.com/rhythm-and-routes/venues/the-church-studioRip

He was a very nice fellow. I had the opportunity to do some guitar work for him back in the mid 1970's. I would visit his Encino ranch house, the first home "pro" studio. Recording gear was laid out throughout the house. I remember everyone having way too much fun recording there. It made a huge impact on me as all I had known were staid, pro commercial recording studios, time based and not that much fun.
Leon showed me another way, one you all have to tribute a bit back to him as the pioneer.
