Anyone have a Daking MP4? I want to ask a small favor if you do.

Call Geoff directly! He's one of the good guys... Trust me, he will take care of you, as if you were family! The best of the best!

Hey there. I don't doubt that. I had wondered if I had stumbled upon an inherent flaw in the gear by accident as two units are doing the same thing. I just wanted to see if anyone else had noticed the same issue. It didn't seem like a service need yet.
However, with no response from any users, I emailed David with Daking who answered back swiftly. It seems it is indeed an inherently problem but one they have solved with a mod.
The good thing is that I don't have to reconsider my investment in my Daking gear (2 pres and stereo Comp). I do need to send the pres in though. Bummer.
This is on the heels of some service issues on my Beesneez mic. I am reconsidering here. Great gear but poor communication, delays and not keeping their word on a near 3 month service issue has deflated much of my enthusiasm. Now my power supply blew a cap. Argh.
Yay boutique gear!

Wow. Just got an unexpected call from Geoff Daking. He is calling Skip Burrows here in Houston to see if can do a mod on my pres.
Skip has an amazing facility including a hand selected and built stone back wall. I had an album mixed there back in the 90's when I was a very uneducated band leader/musician.
Then, it was ADATs bounced into protocols, through a large SSL 4K. I didn't know jack and didn't care to learn production back then - what a wasted opportunity that was, despite a good project.
Skip did a massive save on my project when tapes began to disintegrate. Just reminiscing as Skips service was just like Geoff's was today. So good it's humbling.

What was the BeesNeez issue if you don't mind me asking? I have one of their mics and want to be prepared if a problem arises.

I had a loose capsule and a tube issue. I think someone knocked it over when I wasn't around.
I sent it in and would have been fine with a 4-6 week cycle. In the end, it was about 10 weeks. That was rough but the kicker was being told it would ship and then it didn't. It happened 2-3 times.
Now I have a capacitor cover in the power supply that has some how popped off. I assume it is something that happened in transit but I am just realizing it now as I just moved it for the first time since then. I've been reaching out for a week and a half with no reply.
There it is.

I just want to brag on Geoff Daking and Skip Burrows from Sunrise Sound.
I am now sure I will never have a problem with Daking gear that won't be handled with care and expediency. Geoff went out of his way to find a local tech in Houston to get me going. Multiple calls and emails with complete patience and empathy. His service is so good, it is humbling. Thanks Paul - couldn't be any truer.
Skip is the same way. If you don't know, Skip is the guy who started the GS thread" Why in the box mixes suck", raising the issue of gain staging. He remembered me from 1997, still had me in his system, had me sit for a spell and chat about gear and took time to show me his entire facility. You should see his SSL 4K. It is spotless and flawless... looks brand new - but that is only 1 out of 4 rooms. The coolest thing is that he builds his own treatment from hand selected rocks, pulled from Austin, TX creeks to resonators, clouds and traps. The guy knows his music, sound and math. I also found out he helped Geoff with the Daking 500 series design. It was a cool field trip.
In any case, if in Houston with something broke... take it to Sunrise Sound.
I just popped my FET III on a mix, testing something Geoff mentioned. I sit tonight with a smile, an ecstatic Daking user.
Edit: Forgot, Skip is also fixing my Microphone PowerSupply - super cool. Glad I don't have to send it to the MFG, they are way too slow.
