A pretty 47 Fet i for $3k at the Overland Park KS GC sure is pretty but I just can't justify the $$ for a Fet . I keep telling g my self $3k could buy a used pair of Gefells and a c38!

You can also diy for under a grand! Yeah I was thinking that as well , but I must say the body work & hardware was better than any $100o clone I have seen !

Ericn, You might consider a Warbler IID. If you're not digging the capsule (which sounds pretty good to my ears) an upgrade to a Thiersch M7 would set you back around $400 or a Heiserman HK47 for $250??. You'd still be clocking in under $700 and the mic offers some major versatility with the pattern, voicing and pad options.
Another candidate that I dig in this category is the JJ Rottweiler 47. Cinemag out tx, K47 capsule, high quality caps. On groupbuy they go for $650, at least they used to. I could put my Rottweiler inside a kick drum and man it was insane in there.
The Warbler is plenty interesting. Their stock capsules sound pretty sweet.
Thanks -L

If I was extremely wealthy, I suppose I could justify the expense of a real 47 fet. I just can't see spending 3K for a mic that is largely thought of as a great outside kick and bass amp mic.

The price is on the low side and it is pretty but If I were in that price range I'd buy a FLEA ef12 like bradds or have Shannon tweet a DIY or CV4. Besides after spending $3k I bet I'd still end up sending it to Sinsay!

For just another $300, you can buy a brand new one. And it's worth it!

My main vocal mic is an fet m7 frankenmic, modded and based on 47 fet but with Thiersch Blue line m7 and electronics tuned for that $175 for St77 donor mic, $550 for trafo, electronics and capsule install

I'm well aware that the U 47 FET comes with a K 47 FET capsule ... my frankenmic employs an m7 blue line and similar electronics to a fet47.... *** Edit So yes, historically accurate, not by any means The sound tho.... glorious!

I think that's why I always preferred the Gefell UM70/71 Fet over a 47 Fet most of the time!
