Hey guys. I'm looking for two pads. I'll settle for either -10 or -20. If anyone has an idea where to grab some or wants to sell me some I'd love to know!

Stupid Question, are specificly looking for a screw in pad that goes between the diaphragm and pre amp? Or will a pad after the pre do? For those 451eb/452 specific threaded pad , EBay, for XLR pads , Google mic pad schematic ,buy the needed resistors,XLR Barrel plugs add hot solder!

I have a few AKG -10db screw in pads and a couple of those long AKG gooseneck extensions that go between the 451 series mic body and capsule. They used to be quite common on 1970's and 1980's European TV music and talk shows.
Sorry not for sale at the moment. I use the pads on our 451 hi-hat mic.

Audio Technica AT8202 which can be selected for -10db -20db or 030db line pad attenuation. And they don't change the sound of the microphone. IMHO, a much better option.

Ok, Ward started the veer, i'll continue in that vein. Anyone tried the new Oktava preamp which has the pad and filter built in? Curious if it improves on the old version, or.....

Curious if it improves on the old version, or..... in my defense, I was merely referencing a different stand-alone attenuator - which is a stand in for adding a pad and a less invasive procedure.

If you're feeling froggy, I believe you could permanently pad a 451 with a 1 cent ceramic capacitor from capsule hot to ground, inside the body somewhere there could be room for some work. I don't remember the value of the cap though. I appreciate the struggle to find parts and accessories for old mics, which is part of why I sold my 451s, even though they did sound quite good.

That is exactly the reason I walked from a fellow selling a three pack for like $1000. I froze a moment then continued on my way.
