I think it sounds the best of all. Fuller. I wonder if it is not louder, though...Not sure.

It does seem to sound really nice, full bodied and nice glossy highs. But man they're not cheap, wow.
I really like the Schoeps in this test. Sounds the most real to me but then I own them and I'm just really used to their sound.

I checked out this shootout because I wanted to listen to the Telefunken mics. I want to love the T-funk because of the name, and they look great, but never sound that good in shootouts. The Soyuz sound much better. Totally surprised.

I really want to like the company, they have the name, they're local to me (an hour or 2 away), have a cool little studio happening, a lot of good things going, but they make some odd choices. The lower end line, sure, I get it, some OEM bodies and stuff for a lower price, but this Ela M 260 pair is priced pretty high end. They should be using top flight parts throughout.

Thanks Jesse, that shootout is enlightening. I do believe I get the pleasure of saying I told everyone so.
My interface is wonky, so I could only listen on my iMac right now. I've been accused of being a "salesman for Soyuz" ;-), but I had the opportunity to try them early on, and wanted to let everyone here know there's a new and viable choice that ranks with the best there is, so vintage is no longer the only choice. I also think there's something special and gratifying about being the first owner of something, not to say I wouldn't be very glad to be given a pair of K84's ;-)
jcoutou said, "The lower end line, sure, I get it, some OEM bodies and stuff for a lower price, but this Ela M 260 pair is priced pretty high end. They should be using top flight parts throughout". I feel exactly the same way, I'm always rooting for Telefunken USA to kick ass, but they come up short all too often.
In the other thread, I said if you put a pair of K84's and Soyuz 0-11's in front of me and said pick one to keep, I'd take the 0-11's. If I was a studio owner, I see the value of K84's being important. They're proven, reliable, sound as good as anyone can ask for, but I've used the K84's a lot, and the the 0-11 and K84 are very similar, but to quote myself, the 0-11's are to me, "the prettier sister, undeniable".
