For TRS not bad Clair bros used has XLR for less, Once a month I walk into the local GC grab a couple of the Planet Waves dsub to dsub and make them beat the price Zzounds or AMS has on them , I think it's $17.69 for af foot .

I build my own cable assemblies. After some horrible experiences with some disgustingly made cheap cables I simple do not trust cheap cables and never will.

but that 2-hr build time... how much is your studio's hourly rate? is building that cable worth the 2 hours of non-studio time?

but that 2-hr build time... how much is your studio's hourly rate? is building that cable worth the 2 hours of non-studio time? That seems to be exactly the point. I use Hosa snakes for this reason. I have also had some good Planet Waves DB25 snakes.

Seems OK, however I usually just cruise Ebay for used cables. You can find cables for pretty cheap on there if you look long enough.

but that 2-hr build time... how much is your studio's hourly rate? is building that cable worth the 2 hours of non-studio time? I engineer and do all the maintenance and tech work between sessions, not instead of sessions. Most of my initial tech work when I started here was fixing and replacing sh*tty cheap ass cables. I threw out a six month old 24-way multicore my studio partner bought brand new from eBay. Half the XLR's were wired out of phase, the conductors were stripped back half an inch causing shorts and pops which also shorted out the phantom supply and ended up blowing out a tweeter in our old Tannoy Reveals (since replaced by Neumann KH120's) I attempted to reterminate the connectors but the multicore cable conductors were oxidised right inside the insulation and would not solder. Some of pins in the fake Neutrik XLR's started pushing out of the insulated housing. About the worst piece of shite I had ever seen! I custom made all our DB-25 to 8-way XLR looms that run between a 96-way Redco patchbay and outboard racks. I used genuine Neutrik XLR's, Redco DB metal backshells and Gepco cable. All the DB25 terminations are individually heatshrunk to avoid stray conductor shorts. I've previously soldered thousands and bloody thousands of DB terminations for several satellite telecommunications projects both in Oz and onsite in Europe so I'm use to it even though sometimes I'd rather be fishing!
