Ocean Audio seams to be going through some changes, so from a support point of view I would treat it like a used purchase.

A few too many options with the consoles, but if those options had been minimized and a simple 500-series console was the only thing offered, it could have gone somewhere.

The 500 series console had so much potential, but it really need a couple of things . 1 an affordable rack designed with the ribbon cable in mind to connect rack to rack. 2 an option for a real linear fader ( a rack designed for the system would help with this) 3 bussing , a pair of stereo subgroups would have given it more flexibility .

I just felt the marketing was tough with all the options that were available...too many choices in the configurations and models.

You may want to check the new home of the Ark console. arkconsole.comYes, Malcolm retired, but that does not mean that Ocean Audio is out of business. Cheers Bruno Ocean Audio / Interphase Audio

Cheers Bruno Ocean Audio / Interphase Audio No thanks Bruno, After seeing how you treat anyone who asks a pointed question on other forums I' ll go elsewhere! One thing I learned after close to 30 years using then selling and now owning consoles I realized buying a console is like getting married to the people behind it. In both cases those that would rather acuse others of having a hindend agenda without doing some basic research are useually the ones with a hidden agenda! But good luck, with it.

For me it was interesting to go and look at the design and pricing page.

In both cases those that would rather acuse others of having a hindend agenda without doing some basic research are useually the ones with a hidden agenda! But good luck, with it. Point taken Eric. Thank you for your honest opinion. I'm glad our customers don't share your opinion :-) I don't want to try and hide behind excuses, but you sound like a reasonable guy, so maybe you allow me to explain. Ever since we started with Ocean Audio (about 4 years ago), we were under constant attacks at the forum you are referring to. Much of this had to do with some competitor spreading all kind of crazy rumours, and some forum members believing his nonsense. (it's not even worth mentioning the competitors name) We had to constantly defend ourselves, which is not a nice position to be in as a small manufacturer which just started and tries to run an honest and open business and tries to give our customers the best service. Because of all these attacks, I stayed away from most forums for almost a year. Another reason for staying away is that we worked very hard on a new console and did not want to start sharing information before being ready. We did not announce anything on that forum, but were dragged into reacting since some one said the company was out of business. If I understand well, that person was your friend Brad (if this is the same Brad you introduced to this forum). And yes, I agree, I may have overreacted a bit (and I'm sorry for Brad), but I think you understand that because of all the past attacks, I became a bit sensitive. I was under the impression that there were no bad vibes between Brad and myself, but then again, my mother tongue is not English, so I sometimes miss the finer subtilities of the language causing me to sound "harder" than I intend to, or not get the underlying message. Anyhow, I'm not here to post a bunch of marketing hype, but rather to answer any question anyone may have. Cheers Bruno arkconsole.com

So is the final design and configuration set and now you have announced or are things still in development ? We're currently building the first one, which should be ready in a couple of weeks. We don't want to use our customers as "beta testers" but prefer to fully test this first console (both in the lab and in a real studio environment) before building more consoles. For the moment, it all looks really well, but you never know what can happen down the road. Maybe small adjustments need to be made. In any case, the long lead items have been ordered and are coming in. When we get the "green light" from quality control, we can get new consoles ready in a couple of weeks. So, in reality this means we should be able to ship the first console late January.

My pleasure :-) I don't want to spam this forum telling how fantastic the Ark 8 is, but we have been working on this for over 12 months with a large international group of professionals. We're all really proud of what she became. I'll happily answer any questions any forum members may have. Cheers Bruno arkconsole.com

I might suggest you consider getting one into the hands of one of the experienced people here for a working demo. Frankly, that would be a lot more meaningful to me ; then just net chatter, mine included !
