Most AE say they are bad compressors. I think they have their use. If you are in need for a larger than life sustain. Its perfect for this because it ads no latency and it sounds better than all other options I have; including hardware. This one is a very long release for an extrem slow solo. Combined with the EMT250 you get a long tail for clean ballad solos.

I'm pretty sure you're using what they call the "Vintage FET" because the other FET comp (emulating a DBX I believe) doesn't have a knob for knee. I've got to believe they've made significant sonic improvements in the current version because some of them rock. I prefer them over comps like the MJUC 90% of the time. Here's a couple pics of the current version. Same comp - just different sets of controls and meters.
