hoping you guys can help me out. i'm reamping a clean gtr signal and what's hitting the amp is distorto. i'm using a reamp box (diy recording equipment) checking my gain stages and no matter what, somewhere the clean signal is getting smashed before it hits the amp.
my interface has output attenuation. Lowering this doesn't help, just makes it quieter. in protools, i set the output of the track to the output of the interface, then using balanced cable. Connect that to the reamp box, then unbalanced instrument cable to the amp.
the places i can change the gain are original track, output of interface, and amp itself. no matter what, my signal stills sucks. can't seem to figure it out

Take out the ramp-box and see if this is going to work. I never use such a un-balancing-box and it always works flawless just the interface output to the amp input.... Microphone - 1073 - back to interface input... done.

Active? Passive? Have you had success with it before? Got a link to the design? I'd just go straight to the amp with the output of your interface and turn the level way down and see if it's distorted like that. It might sound strange, but it should tell you if the distortion is there. If it's your reamp box and it's an active box, does it use a battery, phantom or wall power? A silly question, but is the battery dead, or have you swapped cables to see if one of those is broken?

Thanks guys. It was the amp. Switched amps and now no problems.
