Vox box does 8 mono on a quad for all the 8p Apollo owners how awesome is that? I am super interested in innovative products from UA like this, not the brainworx plugs. I like Brainworx plugs but I love UA plugs What are the Roland plug-ins?

I briefly played with the Voxbox...and I didn't really dig it. Went to VP28 and much preferred that. But I could probably say that about all the Apollo pres. Shannon rebuilt my mic and we haven't "tuned" it to my vocal yet...so it's really forward in the mids...but once I eq everything out, it sounds freaking fantastic...so I might have been swayed by that first impression.

What's your vocal mic?

Same as always...CV4 with Shannon Rhoades capsule. Still waiting on the Upton. Like I said, Shannon rebuilt this capsule last week and it hasn't been "tuned" to my voice...so, it has a lot of forwardness in the middle. In fact, it's somewhat like a frowny face with a little bit of a smirk on the left (bottom) - which certainly isn't what I need vocally. But I've done two vocals EQ'ing out the mids and man, it's amazing. The clarity and openness is amazing. No pinching, and less sibilance than before. All that to say, the end result is amazing, but it doesn't sound good flat right now. So - maybe what I was disliking was the initial sound of the mic and not the Voxbox...but I did immediately switch to a VP28 Litz and liked it better.

I've used a voxbox on a few occasions. Didnt like it at all and found all the features to be mostly useless (for me).
I'm glad they have the Space Echo back though. I was demo-ing the old one and they took it off the market just as I fell in love with it. Its one I'll pick up for sure.

Amps sims, convenience that I would like to tap into, saves tubes when your writing and gets you into the ballpark. I think I need to learn more about them. Anyone have any advice on setting them up to sound more real? I think I am missing something on these, or I just don't like them that much.

Anyone have any advice on setting them up to sound more real? I think I am missing something on these, or I just don't like them that much. I have always thought of them as "their own thing" which can be very cool. At one point I was obsessed with an amp sim called Gsuite JCM-900. My real amps just weren't getting me that sound. I just think they are different, that's all. Both can be good. Depends what you're "going for." These days it's all about big fat analog stacks for me. But I think amp sims proudly have their place as well.

I tried several of my go-to bass tricks and the BA15 just adds this punch that the others don't.
