And I'm not being a shill for Shannon. There are a few guys out there that do amazing work - I'm only advocating for him because I can vouch. Not trying to be a wet blanket at all - I'm gonna go read the site - but man, there are proven commodities out there.

My ck40 has issues. I bought it used and one capsule has half the output of the other. It needs work anyway, so I thought why not upgrade.
Supposedly this guy is proven in certain circles. I found him via gearslutz or tapeop.
He's anti-capsule switching and more about circuit/component mods.

In almost all circumstances I have found the best upgrade for Røde microphones would be changing the capsule. Their preamps are extremely well designed and could be best described as very neutral or clean.

90 Precent of the sound of almost any mic boils down to Capsule and Transformer, the rest is very subtle. As Tim said any Rode is going to see the biggest improvement from a capsule mod as the circuit is pretty good. When it comes to mic mods Shannon isn't about off the shelf he's about delivering what the customer wants , not what he thinks it should sound like. There is a reason Blackbird trusts Shannon with the worlds most expensive and largest mic collection! Give Shannon a Callahan decided it's only a phone call!
