I have been planning a simple version of this. They are way ahead of me, ha!
What it seems like is they are creating a 10 channel version of the api box console. Cheaper though, but contains no units. So is it really cheaper?

Several people are way ahead of this and have much more options. The only thing that is intriguing is the usb daw control but its looking like at first they are gonna incorperate an artist mix? Plus they are still prototyping. Jeff, Paul, Purple, are several years ahead. If I could get a promise in writing of a completed line in 6 months id consider it. Depending on how much. Id like to see how they do the usb daw control and faders.

I've kinda lost interest in a limited 500 series mixer...really more interested in hybrid setups.

I've kinda lost interest in a limited 500 series mixer...really more interested in hybrid setups. I would like a 11 channel aux send unit to sandwich in between the capi rack. Mainly need a tracking solution, but don't want to abandon the form factor. I like the purple solution, but it's a 10 channel unit and the purple will clash!

Yeah it seems those with the financing and/orability are missing the mark. I want to jump in and out of the analog digital domain with ease. I want to control my plug ins with a knob or switch it to hardware. I want daw control through whatever hardware I see fit. I want expandability and I want recall. I might as well build the damn thing myself. Wait! That's right! I am!!!

A view to the past, not the future. Not that that's all bad, but as far as "consoles" go, I don't think it's what the majority of people really want / need in 2016. Plus this "new" (old) form factor wreaks havoc with acoustics.

I'm curious in regards to my own mixer which i am building 3u so i can rack it.

Consoles and the reflections they create are arguably the most problematic piece of the acoustic puzzle in an otherwise stellar acoustic design. A raked up bridge like the one pictured accentuates the problem even more. Note that you'll never see a modern mastering desk look like that. At least I've never seen one. Taking your console OUT of the studio and listening to your monitors with no reflections off the console is mind bending. Try it. Mind bending.....

Nah, it's because Oz is upside down.

Btw, my console is on the left, too. Does that make me part Australian? :-)
Or just upside down?
