Do you guys think UA will have another hardware promotion? I'm really considering getting an Apollo 16. I basically never use the pres on my Apollo 8 BF - but I'm really pretty impressed by the ADDA. (Although I still use the D-box or Svartbox for DA). The idea of getting 8 more I/O channels and even better AD is pretty appealing to me.

Not if you go UNIT Audio! The NEW UNIT w/ DB25s is really reasonable.

I picked up a 16 during their last promotion over the holidays. It's a great piece. I know what you mean on the summing, though. I really want to pick up a Rascal Tonebuss or something, but I'm trying to save at the moment. Someday, though.

Just call Heather at Full Compass say nice things about me and see if she gives you a price you can't refuse!

Nice! I like having another contact, thanks! My guy at GC Pro usually gives me disgusting prices...depending on what it is...but I want to wait and see if there's another crazy "buy this and get an onto free" thing...

Man everyone says the BF Apollo's are night and day better than the SF... I'm still on Fw with out Conosle 2 lol. I don't know, I have the TB card for it as well, so maybe both of those together, with an a free quad/ Octo thrown in with a BF I would probably jump. Idk, what I would get for the SF and TB card, I do know the TB card will def make the sale happen, whereas only being FW may lessen the value.
With my Mac only having one TB/ display port how would I run my extra screen if I got a BF Apollo? If the screen is daisy chained to Apollo via TB, does this affect bandwidth of UAD2 sharc and restrict how many plugs / or overall performance of plugs?

Just daisy chain it. Shouldn't affect the bandwidth at all.

I wouldn't say the Bf and SF are night and day but there is a difference which I prefer.
There is a market for your Apollo by itself and with a tbolt card and you can sell your tbolt card separately. If its a bolt 1 card that is what the window's guys need.
You guys jumping from 8 to 16 with dboxs: just ditch the dbox and get into another dangerous music 16 channel summing box ?

My ultimate goal would be the 2 bus +. But I really like the DA in the dbox. This mic thing from UA is interesting. In all honesty, I trust ua's track record a little more than the alternative. So maybe keeping the Apollo 8 is the way to go. I'd sure like to at least have the option to have my main mic be the 251 and then the approximation of a 47 and 67 for other singers. Will they be dead on? Who knows. I seriously doubt it, but never say never. For doing demos, nobody really cares. But when doing a big record (I apparently won't be doing any of these judging by the last 2 years) I'd hire out and get the real everything.

When I upgraded for more outs I did use for three years the Behringer ADA before I bought a second RME. The reason for the cheapo decission was easy.
1. I wanted to save some cash for other investments.
2. The measurements of the B. where OK.
3. With the blindtest on GS I was sold, no one was able to tell a diffrence ADA vs Lynx Aurora.
4. The unit is now 5 years old and still works in a friends studio.
If someone needs fast and cheap 8 more outs the DA is hard to beat. Keep in mind that it does not works with higher sample rates.

The start of this thread is exactly where I was a few months ago. I sold my Metric Halo ULN 8 and dipped my toe in the UAD waters with an Apollo 8P and a Dangerous D-Box. I loved the workflow and didn't see any degradation in quality when compared to the metric halo. Then based on the positive results with the 8P and D-Box I decided to upgrade to the Apollo BF 16 and since I was doing that I went a head and got the 2Buss+ thinking I would sell the 8P. Now a few months later I've rationalized not selling the 8P and have the ability to sum 24 tracks through the 2Buss+ and D-Box. I usually run my main tracks through the 2Buss+ and if I need more summing then I run my effects buses through the D-Box. It really works well and I've enjoyed the work flow. Now if my full time job would just stop getting in the way I would be set.

I own a Silverface Apollo 16, (full Black Lion Mod) and a Metric Halo UNL-8. Haven't heard the new blackface Apollo 16 as yet.
I love the Apollo 16 it, performs as advertised, and sounds pretty damn good. But I really think there is something extra special about the MH UNL-8's convertors. Who knows, maybe it's me, but I can hear a certain thing the MH thing does that just sounds amazing.
