I have the hs5's and I like what they do. I only used ns10s for a short time, so never really got use to them. I feel like the hs5's do the same things, especially with the mid/high boost/cut switches. I run them along side of my 3 way midfield and they provide a lot of insight into the mids and highs. I would not mix a whole record on them, but I use them to spot check dense mixes and do a last check before printing. I find they translate well to laptop speakers and other cheap consumer stuff, but not so well to bigger and better hifi or pro systems.
Hope this helps. By the way, I have them setup and volume matched with my midfields, so not using them as uber close near fields.
