1. Tired of $800 per 500 series module. 2. Discover CAPI. 3. Build CAPI - nail vp28 out of the gate no issues. 4. Rejoice in having fun building and using the unit whilst saving money. 4. Get VP312 immediately after and build. 5. Preparing to compare units.
What great units these are. Wow. I am loving building them. Lots of savings and more fun.
Going to try the Love Child EQ as well.
I rather enjoy building the GAR2520's. Got my first 4 right and then turned around a BC560. Whoops. I'll toss a new one in and see if it works, though it sure made that opamp hot.
Cheers!

4 VP28s, 2 VP312DIs, 2 FC526s, the rack and power supply (still want my t shirt, Jeff π)....
My goal is to fill an 11 space rack with VP28s and another with comps and was for the ultimate live rig rack....
Building them is very enjoyable and calming to me..plugging them in gives me that oh so special feeling...

It's simple and broad which I like for general tone shaping especially on electric guitars. Surgical it ain't but it's quick and easy to get almost any electric sounding tonewise how you want it to sound. Bass / Mids / Highs what could be simpler? Used in conjunction with the high and low pass filters you can easily shape the tone in a way that doesn't sound like it's been screwed with.

Excellent. Broad strokes are good for tracking in my mind, especially. Usually it's once I have everything going and panned/balanced as best I can that I start grabbing specific frequencies if at all. I usually do, at least on some things...

almost done my pair of vp28's. flipped some transistors on a 2520 and caught fire. Because I built it, I knew what was wrong, where it was wrong, and thanks to Jeff Steiger's thoughtfulness, all I had to do was replace one carbon resistor. With the 2520s fixed, everything is awesome.
While my 3 year old daughter colors, I do my kits. Very satisfying.

NIIIIIIIIIIIICE. Great stuff.
I am a little torn between the vp312 and vp28. The 28 is feature rich and has the extra iron/opamp. I do like the open top and slightly bigger lows of the 312, though. They are so close though, I think I'll just build a whole rack of vp28s and make like I'm recording through an API :-)

Ah ok so it IS toast. I figured that by how hot it felt, I may have ruined it... uh oh, might have thrown it back in with the good one. LOL. Guess I'll just have to try it out to find the dead one when I build my next vp28.
