I have a pair of the MP k-87 capsules mounted in some MCA SP-1 bodies. They sound great.

I looked at these, then decided that I didn't have to build them since the MKID was basically the same or better with more options.

How come the mark up is so much for a U87 when you can build it for like $300 ? They should sell for $1000 , not $3,000 ,

How come the mark up is so much for a U87 when you can build it for like $300 ? They should sell for $1000 , not $3,000 , This kit is a transformerless design so not exactly a clone of a u87. Other big differences will be the quality of the capsule and the quality of the body. That being said I've had good experiences with microphone parts, and I'm sure this is a great value, and a nice sounding mic.
