I have just never bothered with HW reverbs...not sure I want to go down that expensive rabbit hole. Rent a Bricasti for a mix and tell us how much you miss it when it's returned. Somethings in life are worth paying for. Vapor, not for me. M7, and a full rack of various Lexicons does more than any PC can. Try it, you might like it. Jim How do have the M7 connected to your delta? In relation to true stereo and maintaining pan positions in the reverb stereo field? Cheers Wiz

No, life is too short. The lex in the everything bundle is cool, I use the stock verbs in Cubase and have for a long time.

Sold the 480L Sold the PCM 96
Replaced those with the Lex PCM bundle, and then beefed it up with the Valhalla VVV
I don't really miss either - especially the 96. The 480L I miss a bit, and if it wasn't a time bomb and worth so much, I probably would have kept it.
Then I bought a Bricasti with the money I pocketed when I sold the 480 & 96. Happy about that. The M7 is NOT replaceable with software IMO.
Also kept a PCM80, M2000, and a Rev7 (cause it's worth nothing, but still has some cool stuff in it)
It's NOT a one or the other situation IMO. You need BOTH. They are different and both have their strong points - and weak points.

Do you send everything to the room to give the mix a "band in one room" sound? I usually use Studio A for that duty, but I do a lot of rock mixes. Would be curious to know what other rooms people are using for what purposes. Every time I do a lot of bouncing of different settings (rooms/plates/halls) I'm not happy with the results. So, still working on that skill of gelling everything by instinct.

Frank - I use all kinds of stuff and don't really have a set "go to". And often I'll use more than one verb on a source. For the M7's duty, I tend to vary around - then I'll stick on something and use it for months. Seems like every time I land on something appropriate on the M7, it just works for everything and I don't end up listening to all the great patches. heh heh Right now I'm on Waits Room. It's working great, but I'll tweak it a bit here or there.'s duty,

To do a true stereo Bricasti, you would need to use two of them, one for left, one for right. I've done that with the Lexicons, but it's an unusual configuration.

I'm curious, how is that not "true stereo"?

I sold my hardware reverbs a while ago, the UAD and TC reverbs are all fantastic as is the Relab LX480.
I had a demo of a Bricasti for a weekend and was personally disappointed after everything I'd read (although I don't really know what I was expecting as it's only a reverb!)
The only hardware reverb I would buy now (if I had space) would be an original EMT 140 plate - those things are just amazing on vocals and cannot be replicated to my ears by a plugin.
But "digital" reverb is sorted for me in software form these days, I don't need to put it in a metal box in my rack.

I was thinking if I plumb it in to my console (atm I use it as an insert i logic and logics sends are post pan) to maintain "true stereo" I would have to use 2 Aux sends on the console and vary the levels to set the pan position in the stereo field of the wet signal, to match the dry pan position. I normally mix LCR so its not that big a deal doing that..... cheers Wiz

I'm curious, how is that not "true stereo"? It is if your aux send in your daw is post pan thats how I run mine in Logic To really hear the true beauty of the M7 do this. Set up an aux send on every channel in your mix (Post Pan send).... and send the same level of signal from each to the bricasti on a stereo aux. Solo safe the aux, and then solo the aux and listen to the reverb only... its a really big revelation... Now insert all your favourite ITB reverbs on the same aux, mute the bricasti, and listen all the others.. The bricasti, sounds like you magically removed the band from the room, and all you hear is the reverb.. its like the ghost of the sound is in the room... When using the bricasti, listen to the reverb only.. and flick presets till you find the right "feeling" room in time... and try and do the same thing with all your other go to reverbs... Just listening to the returns is realy wonderful on the M7. I know this box is expensive... and I can tell you first hand, listening to shoot outs on the web, won't tell you what this box is like. I now understand why everyone can be so annoyingly evangelistic about this box. IF and i do mean IF , its aesthetic is what you go for... if its not, you would think people are nuts spending that sort of money on a reverb. Also, the plug in made by exponential audio, takes this box to a fantastically useable level.... I was using a borrowed M7 for about 6 months, I saved up and bought my own M7M, it and the plug in.. are made for each other. cheers Wiz
