That is some kind of funny and frustrating too because the I lok was cool for taking it to other studios and all your plug ins where running. While I am reinstalling all the plug ins on my new 8 core system I learn many developers stop using I lock.
Just to name three which wrote me they do not support I lock anymore:
1. Nomad Factory 2. Overloud 3. Waves
It seems I lock has a problem.
What is it?
Is the dam thing cracked already? Do they charge stupid fees frrm the developers?
Anyway it would be great to have a stick again - with all activations on it.

I periodically open projects and get a message that my Antares Auto Tune is not authorized even though it is in my ILok and I have the most updated version. So, I try to open Ilok which gives me a message it can't open and to look and see if I have the latest version-which I do. So, I have to reboot my system and that solves the problem. My Pro Tools is on the iLok, but I don't have the problem with Pro Tools, though their problems via iLok are well documented. I would suspect that iLok's problems are that it's not proprietary to one company like Waves and Steinberg's.
Waves got it right. I have had zero problems with their installer. I have had few problems with Steinberg's eLicenser as well.
I think Native Instruments Service Center is messy. Of all my software, I think Native instruments GUI's are the worst.

I got so sick of iLok that I purposefully tracked down cracked copies of the software and plugins that I PAID FOR and use the cracked versions just so I don't need to use the crappy iLOK.
I know people using the cracked versions without buying just because they hate iLOK so much. And yet... a lot of software makers are not clueing in. It reminds me of the old "dongle days" . . . remember those thing on your ADB between the back of your Powermac and your keyboard? Fun times.

All I know is that paying 35 dollars to transfer a license to another person that you already paid god knows how much for is crap. I'm sure they're "printer's inking" their customers on both ends of the spectrum, and nobody needs that kinda of noise. The cost to creating your own license management probably lessened through modern tools to be cheaper than to use a prepackaged licensing option, or at least comparable with a long term win by the plugin manufacturer's in the end.
Or their support hours are terrible.
All possible outcomes, being of the IT industry.

Take this with a grain of salt but I was reading somewhere that some of the cracked versions are "lighter" (code wise) since they exclude all the code needed for protection. Again, this is something I read somewhere (can't remember whether it was in a forum or blog or article) a while ago.

I ACCEPT Ilok as a creepy uncle. I still don't like hanging out with him. Ilok is the mustache of the software security world.

No problems with iLok as well, wish Steinberg would put Cubase on the Ilok so I could dump their key.
