A search of RGO did not reveal an all-encompassing thread on 'verbs (for at least a year). Or, I may have missed it. No matter. Enquiring minds want to know: what are your go-to reverb plugs (or hardware) in mid-2016, and how/why are you using them?
Let's have it: REVERBS!

I'll go first:
I struggle to make sense of all the choices out there these days. I own UAD Ocean Way, 224, 140, and 250; Eventide T-Verb; Exponential R2 and Phoenix; and Reverberate v1 with the M7 impulses (hate the interface). I become very confused trying them all out, and can never seem to settle on a favorite. I tend to try them out and move on. No, I'm not talking about women, either. Although there may be some behavioral similarities, it is a subject for a different thread. But I digress.
I loved T-Verb at first, but I find that it has a very strong sonic footprint. Same with Ocean Way. Maybe it's the way I try to use them - I want to hear the effect, so perhaps I turn them up too loud. It's another old habit, turning things up. So I'm interested in hearing about mixing techniques, too. My band is recorded direct: edrums to BFD, bass is DI-ed, guitars sent through an amp and Two Notes studio, all into Symphony. Very 21st century, no miking unless we absolutely have to. So I (think) I want an ambient space to place the instruments, to synthesize a soundstage. BFD provides a "space" for the drums, which seems to complicate things, rather than help. You can't get rid of what is sampled into the overheads and room mics without killing the vibe of the drums.
So, other than a Bricasti (not in the budget), what? Altiverb? Some other convolution reverb? or something on the algorithmic side? What is everybody using these days?
We are old school rock trying to be a bit clever with the occasional acoustic guitar, mandolin, dobro, etc. We even try to harmonize a few lyrics (got to put the drummer to use, or he'd have anxiety attacks).

Hardware! PCM80, TC m-one (X3).
Sometimes I'll use a plugin for some effects stuff on background vocals and such, but the latency through most plugs when bussing things in the DAW makes them sound more like echos.

I'm ashamed to say that I have no reverbs except the stock plugs in Logic. I usually end up using what comes with the default channel strips for each instrument type (vocal, drums, etc). Often that means two reverbs show up on the strip - one long - one short, and I dial them in to taste, maybe putting some low and high pass filters on the reverb busses.
Right now, there's not a lot of room in the budget for verbs, (except maybe a plug) so I'm really curious, what people think of the stock logic plugs and any suggestions about which ones they use and maybe little it about how they set them up or what stock presets they start with? ..and If I was to try a single Waves reverb to start, which one should I go with?

I'm loving the new PSP EMT 2445. For me, I'm using that as an obvious verb and Valhalla Vintage for ambience. I also have a TC M-ONE XL.
A bit off topic, but in the same realm, I'm also using Soundtoys Effects, a Louder Than Liftoff delay, and a pair of TC D-Two delays.

I struggle judging reverb space while mixing, which is why I'm going to fix my room. Me too. I fight just hearing the mix. I am coming to the realization that I hear crunchy distortion in the high end after a few hours of mixing and it isn't really there. I thought something was broken or getting hot, but I am pretty sure it's my ears. It's a bit disturbing. Hearing a touch of tinnitus as I type this too. Ah, the perils of Rock 'n' Roll. Tried to find good settings for a parallel gated verb on snare with T-Verb last night. Still working on it. A little goes a long way; not trying to replicate In The Air Tonight.

Exponential Audio's R2 and Phoenixverb. Truly excellent reverbs. MetricHalo Haloverb and Valhalla Vintage Verb as well. If the budget allowed I'd add a Bricasti.

I have an Apollo. First, I use the Ocean Way plug on everything in various amounts. It gives a really decent impression of being done in a studio instead of my living room. I don't want it to sound like a reverb at all, just like a room. I then add the Relab XL-480, usually a Medium Hall HD, and tweak the EQ slightly.
Last, I put a third reverb which I use here and there in the smallest amounts. I like a plate reverb here, either the UAD EMT-140 or the Poor Plate. I like the Poor Plate more now, it's just bigger sounding than the EMT-140, and as a way to add just a pinch of depth and vibe, it's great. Maybe on only one or two tracks, but it's cool. I like it on pedal steel best, it's spooky ass cool.

I watched a video in a thread on here about how to build a reverb (because it never sounds right), and I was just on the mark of how complicated it was, using like, 3 different reverb reflections, delays and all sorts of things...
but what I did figure out though, was how trueverb works! it's actually a bunch of reverbs in one plugin, that you can then adjust individually to layer the sound! convenient comparatively!
With that said, I have really enjoyed Softube's Tsar verb that I got through focusrite's bundled time and tone bundle. It's really simple and makes sense with how to use a simple reverb, with its linear sliders.

I just reconnected my Lexicon Nuverb to be my primary verb box. Used the TL-Digi-Avid Space plug for drums and such with AMS impulses but the vocals weren't really happening. Finally decided to drag out the 8100/80AV and figure out why I had clock errors with the Lexicon card's AES input. Duh, some resoldered XLR connections later and Random Chamber is re-engaged.

I do almost the same as Matt I like to hear the effect so when I get it to where I like I back it off about a quarter turn BUT lately I watched a Vidio on the Abby Road EQ Reverb trick for vocal and drums and since my verbs seem to set much better and are easier to blend I've a ton of software reverbs but generally end up with my eventide h3000 or Roland Srv330 outboard The Roland Srv330 verbs was supposedly developed by several American engineers not the best but cheap good and useable

Also blending a delay effect with the reverb on vocals helped for me

Little Walter tube spring verb and the Hofa IQ-verb with Bricasti ir's have been my most used. 250 and 140 UA plates and the Ocean Way, too.

Waves Abbey Road or UAD EMT 140 for plate, EMT 250 sometimes (although I might like the PSP new one better for that sound when I demoed) ValhallaVintageVerb for tiled room or AMS ambience type sounds, Ocean Way for room, PSP SpringBox or UAD RE-201 for spring reverb...haven't bite the bullet on the AKG BX20E...that's about the extent of reverbs I use. Never really like hall reverbs very much.
When track or mixing at the studio we have a EMT 140 with Martech electronics which is really great.

Funny--Slate just ran out, despite I'm quite sure actually being DUE to run out months ago.
so, built in Cubase IR for me. "Plate at 2sec" in the vocal slot.

Recently set up a fisher space expander on the patch bay to try different sources on. So far love it on accented percussion like clave and conga. Also sounds huge on Hammond and electric guitar. Imma keep it. Looking forward to the Bricasti M200. Hopefully that will be my reverb of summer 2017

Honestly? I'm really not that impressed with reverb anymore and find I tend to use it as little as possible. For drums, room mics do SO much to create the space you need, and they can be manipulated, time-wise, to increase or decrease the apparent size of your room too! I do find myself using Trueverb a lot, but not a lot of it. I'll also use various delays on different instruments and feed the delayed output into a reverb, usually Trueverb, so that it sounds like it's actually bouncing off a concrete wall. Think of the drum sound on "When the Levee Breaks".

DVerb and Ableton Live Reverb, I have RVerb, TrueVerb by waves but RVerb is better IMO , but I prefer workflows of the stock Reverbs! Will invest in Valhalla next

I use the UAD EMT 140 a ton. Often use the Valhalla Vintage Verb for room sounds on acoustics...Oh - and I LOVE the UAD BX20.

Too bad James Lugo doesn't hang around here much any more... he's a funny guy and colorful character, but man, dude knows how to dial in a reverb and use it tastefully too!
