IGS---500 V72If they pulled that off in a single 500 space all I can say is wow. A lot of vertical mating being used in there but that's one hell of a circuit to try and put in a 500 slot. Not sure I get using Carnhill on the way in and Edcor out, and still trying to figure out what they would had done about the plate choke. Guess we'll find out soon enough. Looks cool though. J

J Things that make you go who umm? Seriously though it's probably roughly in the ballpark if the ballpark is that new Cowboys stadium complex. The proof will be in the sound!

There again, a rack with a fan in it to keep those components cool is vital...

That second picture is actually of the inside of the 2 (or is it 3) space compressor...

I dunno....... The compressor doesn't have a PCB 1/4" jack, the insides of that do. I only see one pot too.

They like kinda look like 4 of these I built. What plate voltage are they running on those? Looks like the IGS has a dc/dc converter to get 100+ I'm curious about the heater voltage on 2 tubes in there, that's a lot to power off one slot. I've got a design in eagle I've had for a while that is a hybrid 72/redd47 but I was always running into problems with current.

I see no photos in Jerome's original post. Can someone fix that? I'd love to see what we are talking about.

Im confused. That first pic can't be the front panel of the second. Isnt that an igs 'one' next to it? The scond pic looks like a double width. And you all know that sometimes the output xfmrs impact is marginal. The edcor might bd perfect for the application considering the carnhill is doing the leg work and coloring.

There's an IGS DBL next to it, but the guts in that picture are from the Red Stripe. The angle makes it look deeper than it is, but if you compare the tube size to the rest of the components you'll see it. You can see there is only maybe an 1/8" clearance in there at the most. Pretty tight and it's impressive they did that. Gonna have to disagree on the output trannies thing here. RTZ 1549a uses Lundahls in the front and a big heavy ass Sowter on the out and I can tell you Bobby did that for a reason. Lundahls are nice and clean, good sparkle. The circuit then does it's thing and passes it through that big Sowter and the sound of it is unbelievable for something that is a 500 series piece of gear. Grab a vintage set of Western Electric transformers and put them on whatever you've got, I'd bet buffalo nickel it wouldn't be marginal. Edcors are good transformers when they're used in circuits that are not trying to recreate one of the HARDEST circuits to reinvent. The V Series Tele's are super special, and it's most all in the transformers and that plate choke. J

You know what?
Your right.
Edcor was probably a bad choice.

This is the third or fourth 500 series tube piece. I guess they've cracked the code? What is the compromise?
