Just picked up the Harrison 32C EQ. Always really liked it... My favorite EQ. That plug made me get the hardware, which I REALLY love. Getting another.

Console? Or channel strip?

Ohhhh. The Great River?
Here's my deal with Hardware EQ though. I'm not sure if I see myself taking the time to pass every channel through hardware when software seems SO close. Of course, I'm very rarely making records...

Yeah, the Great River. I print hardware on pretty much everything. Time consuming for sure. I'm just making records for myself though so the sonics are worth the effort, for me.
I don't find most emulations that close, personally. Good? Absolutely. But less real sounding in a not subtle way, to me.

I think the UAD 1176s are oretty damn close...enough that other than an FC526, I don't have a fet compressor. Now tubes - that's a different story.

I think they're great, I just can't get the depth or weight out of them I can get out of the hardware versions I have/have had. I wish I could, I'd sell the hardware. I used to obsessively blind test myself HW v SW but after the HW kept winning I stopped and now I feel like I can hear the differences more clearly. Just my experience of course.

I tested back and forth between the warm 76 and the UAD...and I couldn't tell a difference.

Was that with one track or running every track thru it and comparing that session with a plugin-only session?

One track several different instruments.

I've had the Mohog, the Urei and still have the WA76 and Hairball Rev A here. I can hear a difference on a single track but not nearly as much as when it's a few tracks at a time.
I once ran every drum track through HW Harrison EQ and HW 1176 and then did the same with the UAD. RMS matched every individual track and the group and then AB'd back and forth between the two groups of drums. The difference was huge.
To me at least. One sounded solid and 3D and one sounded like paper.

You should try running all tracks thru it (set it up as needed, of course) and compare the two sessions. It might take a while, but i bet you'd hear a difference. Same for running all tracks thru the VP28 vs. just on the master bus.

Jcoutou, the Massive Passive is excellent, but a DSP hog. I'd use it on a mastering session, not on the 2 bus, unless you've got dsp to spare.
I just got the Oxide tape plug in. I always use the ATR-102 on my 2 bus, it sounds really good, but it just doesn't feel like tape to me. The Oxide does. First time I used it, it felt like a tape machine, not sounded like, felt like, there's a big difference. It was kinda spooky. With coupons it was crazy cheap.
I've used it on a few tracks, but haven't printed with it yet, can't wait to try that.

I'm kind of glad I'm sort of stuck with UAD because I have a tendency to flip things that are worth any money. I feel happy when I am sort of forced to hang onto things, use and appreciate them. This is partly also why I love DIY and customized gear. I was thinking about switching away from Apollo recently, I would just be taking a huge rinse with it so it doesn't make sense. On the other hand, adding more UAD DSP cores also feels or seems expensive. I think that's where the big expense is more than the software. I really wish UA would hurry up with Console 2.0 for Windows, it's been a long time.

I like the API 550A/560 over the Vision channel strip, for what it's worth. The 560 is pretty useful. But 95% Pro-Q 2 or the new E27 work for me. I've accumulated a lot of UAD stuff. The things I use the most/at all are the EMT 140, EMT 250, ATR-102, Dimension D, Ocean Way Room, 1176, and LA-2A. I only have a Twin at home, and an Octo card at the studio, so I'd use more of them when I mix at home if I had more processing power. A Twin doesn't go very far. The H910 seems like it would be a good creative tool...I like simplicity and Crystalizer, the only harmonizer I have, a little too tweaky for my taste. I'll probably demo it and try it out. That and the BX20 are whats left that peaks my interest/I'd consider spending money on (I'm sure stuff like the Curve Bender is great but too pricey for me) Yea, I demoed the vision when I first got my apollo and wasnt overly thrilled with it. A couple of nights ago I demoed the 500 eqs and after 10 mins of playin with them I bought them. 560 on kick is wonderful...really easy to sculpt the close mic around what is already there in the ohs/rooms. Seemed to add some nice weight too. Punch for days... Then the real kicker was the 550 on crunchy rythem guitars. A little boost at 1.6 added some "muscle" to the sound that I couldnt replicate with my other eqs(slate vmr/waves manny/kush clari/etc...) It also seemed to exagerate the dynamics almost like a transient designer which is awsome on overdriven guitars that are overcompressed in nature. Sold! Now my duo is starting to sweat and begging for a quad sat for some help! That was kind of my experience with the API EQs...but I SO don't want to spend more money.

I happen to snag the EMT 140 reverb plug in during the big Sale which was very nice and I've been using the 140 very frequently. I really would like to purchase more plug-ins however console 2 for FW from my knowledge is a couple years behind and has not had any type of update recently from UAD which is weird because they normally keep us in the loop. This really messes up my confidence in uad and makes me not want to purchase their products n save up. Here is too hoping UA releases the la3a mk2 1081 mk2, and I still feel there is room for improvement certain plugs like the limiter, the maximizer, the bus comp and even the SSL G bus. I really want to Demo the API eq's but have a feeling though want to purchase them because I do like the waves version a lot especially when it comes to drums , drum bus , EQ ,and kick drums.
