The AES 135th International Convention in New York set a record for recent attendance, with a packed exhibitor floor, and an endless array of papers, presentations, workshops, tutorials, and more on every audio topic imaginable.
Spend the evening with some who made the trek, as they share with you their unique perspective and experiences from the show. Speakers will include students Ian Brown and Nicolas Lobel (Belmont University) and Eivind Nordland (MTSU), Dr. Scott Hawley (Belmont University), Carl Tatz (Carl Tatz Design), Michael Fleming (AES Central Region VP), Frank Wells (AES Past-President), Jim Kaiser (AES Governor), and more. There also be pictures and video to help tell the story.
Come see what happened in NYC!

Looks like I'm actually going to make this one after missing the Welcome to 1979 event due to an album that needed to be mastered because the single is moving up the charts.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about this Bob, thanks for posting. I was at AES here, there were so many events, it was impossible to keep up with them. It was fun meeting Ashley and Gannon from UAD. Bryce Young from Warm Audio was a welcoming host. I enjoyed seeing the new 500 series mixer by Malcolm Toft, the BV-12 mic from Avantone sounded really good there, but since it was in the middle of the convention floor, I have no idea whether it will hold up under scrutiny at home. Oliver Archut, the mic master who built my Blackspade U17 was great to meet and chat with.
The most fun for me was playing my mixes in the private room shared by Slate Digital and Ocean Way studios. I was there with Chris Lord-Alge, Steven Slate, Alex Oana, ( Slate VP), and Allen Sides, from Ocean Way Studios. Allen was there demonstrating his new (and amazing) monitors along with the Slate Raven console and Focusrite's "Red" line of outboard. Man, that was a blast, and spoiled me for my little apartment system.

It was the biggest show in five years. I wish I could have gotten away. So many old friends from around the country were there.

There really was a good vibe there. It wasn't only about sales. Most people there were sincerely helpful and loved what they were doing.
