What are you using it on? Maybe Parallel Drum Bus? Bass? Any alternatives? This is the kind of thing where I have to wonder if analog is really better than say - the Soundtoys Devilloc...

I don't use it, but you can hear it on files that Greg Wells recorded here: bit.ly/YgyEra His use/philosophy is to use the level-or to commit while tracking.

I've got a pair. Don't use it that often but everytime I do I love it. Compared to the Devilloc, sure, when soloing you get the more 'physical' feel of it working, but in a mix, I don't know.. :-) Also the Devilloc has a mix button. Great stuff, just as the Decapitator

I used a Shure level-loc for years. Mono smash mic. I stopped using it when I got the RNLA. I ALWAYS do a heavily eq'd mono smash for drums. If I had a Level Or I'd probably use it but I'm doing almost the same thing with mic pre gain and the RNLA.
That sound rules though!

The Level-Or is the definition of a one trick pony, but it's a great one trick pony. The Devil is damn close with a bit more options tone wise. I could live with the plug without any problems, but if the price was right I'd grab a pair of the Level-Ord in a heartbeat! Also give the guys at Standard credit for building things nobody else is! I mean how many more 1176 clones do we need.

Try the Level Or , think The sound of the Shure without the noise ! Those old Shures, even ones babied their entire life are hiss factories.

I'm not sure why I don't have one.
