A quicky vid we did showing the RTZ 1549 on electric guitar. They kick ass and I am about to order another one for Slack Key here. I am a proud endorser of their products and absolutely love their gear.

They sure are! Detail for days. Top end like a Maag, mids like an API and the bottom of a Neve.

Modules go for silly vintage dough these days, why spend a ton on something where you don't know where it's been (Promix would use those boards till they added smoke to a Broadway show) so I keep wanting to try these!

can we talk about that Hi-pass at 120K? I'm having a hard time hearing it :-P

Read the vid edit that says 120hz... We caught it too, after it was rendered and online...Just a typo. I actually talked the whole way through this so we could type what I was doing easier in post and i know I said HZ, not K. It's not easy to catch every little detail when doing these quicky vids I tell ya!

I use these all the time when I'm down at Randy's studio either tracking him or something for my own projects. I've gotten to know these like the back of my hand and no matter if we go from Reso to Acoustic, it only takes a split second for me to dial in the sound. These can dig in but I really love them for going more broad, they really seem to just do what you want them to do. My favorite about them is probably the low end, hearing how punchy they can get in that 100hz to 300hz range is my favorite. They also don't get all phasey when you give a good boost either, they're just very good eq's.

has anyone compared them to Jeff's LC53s? What family would you say these are based on?

has anyone compared them to Jeff's LC53s? What family would you say these are based on? Calrec 1549 is what it was initially based off of. It has gone quite a ways past that though. This is an eq that took years to design and build and its masterful, no pun intended.

It's quite a bit different than Jeff's eq's. 4 bands of eq along with 2x buttons to get you into different freq ranges and Hpf and Lpf's, too.

Let me share a quick little story about RTZ. I work down with Randy quite often, he's got a sound down there and it's damn good, and RTZ is at the core of it. One day I had a particular brand of Nevish style preamp and I had just modded it with some big Carnhill trannies and I was certain this thing was going to absolutely rock. Randy routed the signal up to both my modded pre and the RTZ pre and when he compared them I went outside and started kicking rocks. It's massive folks and the same damn thing happens with the EQ.... I'll think this one is going to be better and Randy will prove me wrong every single freaking time.
I've went into a lot of depth with Bob on his gear and it's the real deal, people just need to quit wasting money on hyped advertised gear and go spend that money with Bob and RTZ.
And no, unfortunately I'm not endorsed in anyway by RTZ, I just respect the hell out of a company that makes gear sound like that.
J.

A used pair is highly unlikely to ever crop up for years. They are made in smaller quantities and those who buy them hang on to them.

Glad to find this thread again - quite old. I remember Randy raving about an EQ and that it was pretty versatile. The demo video and descriptions make it quite interesting. I just emailed RTZ for current pricing.

He's not much of an online type of person so I'm not sure if he's interested in joining any forums.

Greetings, been a long time! Just to clarify on the PEQ-1549, we are currently in the process of gearing up to build the PEQ's again! Due to a supply chain lead time issue on the potentiometers, we've been waiting for the past 9+ months on these parts. We have received some new supplies recently and hope to have a few units available in the next 4-6 weeks. Supplies will be limited for the near term still though. Please feel free to contact us via our web site if you need more information or wish to get on the wait list. I'm not able to spend much time on the web, but thanks for the interest in the PEQ!
