The most dangerous thing for children are parents who think they are smarter than the rest of us. This brings to mind a theory of mine if you think you are qualified to teach your own kids or be president, your not !

I know Rick personally. He and Dylan are just fine. They just have a lot more talent then most.

There is defiantly something to this. From birth to 2 years old for my 3 kids...
19 year old daughter- introduced to lots of music and reading books to her often.. Outcome? Full academic scholarship studying medicine presently.
14 year old daughter- introduced to lots of music and reading to her often.. Outcome? An even better student than her sister. Looking forward to studying medicine.
10 year old son- introduced to music and everyday when I'd get home from work, I'd set him on my lap and watch Reds baseball on tv. He'd watch the game and never take his eyes off of it.. Outcome? Straight A student and one top youth ballplayers in the Tri State.
It works and my wife and I didn't even realize what we were doing at the time.

What happens if you only play the blues for your kid? haha!!
Interesting, but far from "fact". The scientific study would have to be a lot wider to draw any real conclusions. Kind of makes me sad though.....

We've got a Nature vs. Nuture discussion going on here. Clearly, the truth lies somewhere in between. Anecdotal evidence needs to be identified for what it is, ..but then there are a number of studies that demonstrate the advantages of musical development in children. For instance, that 'steady beat' (the ability to sustain a continuous internally driven pulse) in children is an indicator of higher academic performance years later, especially in math. However, even here it's easy to put the cart before the horse - correlation doesn't necessarily prove cause and effect

I've known bands around here that work with Rick, and although I've never met him personally, everyone seems to like him and think highly of him.
It's no anecdotal piece of evidence that children who are exposed to higher levels of music have much more creativity and ability to learn. This has been proven for at least a couple centuries.
