Almost forgot!! I got this free Marshall 1960A refinished in baby blue from a close friend of mine. They got tired of dealing with it. Lucky for me, it's one of my favorite speaker cabs of all time. Now I have two of these (the other being a flat front Avatar with the same speakers). I did spend an hour cleaning up the unacceptable soldering to the jack plate. Other than that, it checks out fine. Won't mind beating this one up if I ever start gigging with it because it has already taken quite a beating. There is even a set list scrawled permanently into the back of it for nostalgia points. The Avatar is pristine and might stay at home. I swear the Marshall is about 10 pounds lighter in weight, too.

I spent a bit of time in airports and planes this weekend and got a few pedals off Reverb...DOD FX60 chorus, DOD FX35 Octoplus, Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxx, Electro-Harmonix Germanium OD, and a Guyatone FL-3 Flanger.

My plans to have my receiver repaired didn't work out. Got a little Adcom amp, a video/rca switcher, and a Big Knob Passive for the home system instead. Hoping to get more music flowing at home; finally got a new turntable a few weeks back (preamp built in).

Big day and a big board. New studio space too. Damn dude! You weren't kidding. This is fantastic. What a cool space. I've often considered one of those Midas boards. You obviously liked yours enough to expand in the same product line, yeah? Congrats. Super cool.

Does diagonal wood actually do anything acoustically different than wood on the horizontal or vertical ?

Haha Broke, looking for features value and reliability & value, yeah like I said a live guy! Seriously, The only diss on "V" Midas boards is the obvious, they are price point boards, I would say a Verona is better built than the Toft ATB, a XL series it is not, not that anything but an XL is! Do yourself a big favor and buy some nice used TT bays and go through everything on that Midas!

Bought a DOD FX75 stereo flanger and a Black Cat Freddie Fuzz. Why? Because the "best offer" feature is a dangerous thing.
I'm wanting to set up a pedal board for the keyboards (transistor organs, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, hopefully some synthesizes soon) at the studio, and these DOD pedals seem like they might be a good way to add some width to mono keys.

Big day and a big board. New studio space too. I have a friend who just grabbed one of those boards for under 300. He uses it for studio as well. I have told him he should bring me a module and let me see if I can mod them. Maybe he will do that at somepoint. I am curious to see them.

I'm betting there is potential, I'll also bet the PSU would be great place to start

I've been working on a pile of General Electric BA-5-A limiters for someone, looks like I'm going to keep one as partial payment. Sounds damn good. 1945 variable feedback (not vari-mu) with analog delay network to get 'instantaneous' limiting. Bottom unit in the ad is the separate PSU, gotta build that, can be 2-3 RU today.

I think I just traded making an album for a Trident Series 70 console and some outboard...haven't fully processed it...seems too generous...but it looks like my home set up just changed dramatically.

Thanks Joseph. These are actually the heaviest they make I believe. But I figured if the bass is supposed to be 58 then it should handle strings that are supposed to be from 54. There are many great reviews of them.
Im going to take a stab at it this evening.
How did it go? Ah I still haven't done it. Got tied up the last few weeks wrapping up a project. Im thinking I will have a pro do it this time around. Hopefully this weekend. Very anxious to hear the results.

The Avatar is pristine and might stay at home. I swear the Marshall is about 10 pounds lighter in weight, too. That's not surprising, the (real) Marshall cabs tend to be built a bit lighter than many of the competition. It gives them a different sort of response when played loud - they're not as stiff as some others, such as Boogie, which is quite the opposite, really heavily braced. The Marshalls have almost no interior bracing except for the post between the baffle and the center of the back. In his (in)famous tome on recording loud guitar amps, Slipperman talks about "cabinet involvement". The light construction gives typical (not the cheapo MDF) Marshall cabs greater cabinet involvement than the stiffer, heavier 4X12s. I don't really know about the Avatar, never been inside one.
