I really don't buy much gear anymore, but just got the Acme Motown DI, WOW. Acme into Coil CA70 is great, expensive for just a passive DI but no regrets. COmpared it to what I have here and it's exactly what I'd been looking for in a direct box for bass. Fits in a mix with no eq, and barely needs any compression.

This year, I was trying to maybe save (emphasis on maybe) for either a second U67 RI or M49V, as I love them both dearly. However, my desire for a 47-style microphone won over, and so I just placed my deposit for a Heiserman H47tube with the 48-style configuration.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about this microphone, and the samples sound great, so I’m really looking forward to receiving this and seeing how a 47-style microphone will fit my voice.

Bought a DOD R870 stereo flanger/doubler that’s been on Marketplace for a year…we’ll see if it works when it arrives. Definitely cheaper than a MXR 😆

Just ordered a new-to-me Canon C70 cinema camera. A big rental house was going out of business and clearing everything out. I’ve been shooting a C70 as my A Cam for the past couple years, so while it’s not particularly *exciting* to get a second one, it’ll make my life easier to have matching cameras for A and B. It’s not always about new and exciting. Sometimes it’s just about what will save you time and help make money.

Been rebuilding, upgrading and parts assembling various guitars the past few months . . . so I won't bore you with pickup neck pot pick guard and other details . . .
oh, picked up an old Beyerdrynamic M88. Anyone use one? I hear it's great on Oboe and Jaw-harp.

Bought yet another AKG C460B but only because it had a CK1 capsule, the A60 adapter, and one of those A51 knuckles which alone sells for more than I paid for it.

If the pick is a clue, I’m pretty sure that’s a Jim Dunlop Nylon 88mm pick So I’ll say it’s a Beyer M88 in a Neumann M49 case.

Just got an m88 on sale from proaudiostar and a very barely used Chandler Type L for a great price. Millsounds video made me do it. This type L is super impressive so far. Guitar cabs, acoustic guitar and vocals all really easy to dial in great sounds. Also made the final payment on a Franklin Drums kit for the studio that should come next week. Exciting stuff.

I just placed an order on an Audioscape Opto. When I pulled up one of their emails I hit the link and found that they actually had one available after going through the same routine for over a year. I was startled for a moment there and when I came out of it hit the buy button. The hit of an extra $150 for shipping to Switzerland hurt but I'm sure that it will be worth it. I've boxed the horrid sounding KT-2A that I bought used after trying to get it to not suck the life out of anything that I put through it's circuits. I'm not quite sure that it would be karmically beneficial to try to sell it. I changed the tubes out and it made but a small incremental difference so maybe I'll just pass it on to the local Goodwill. I sold the replacement tubes and the originals are back in. I'm looking forward to putting it in my rack.

Well I couldn't resist. Saw an M49b on Sweden's "Craigslist" at a great price and bought it! Extremely good condition 9/10. PSU, cables and swivel looks almost NOS. Never seen such a clean PSU. And.. believe it or not a working M7 capsule in good condition.

Bob Katz inspired 2-bus saturation unit, fitted with Western Electric REP 111C and UTC A-20. This looked interesting, the guy from Vandaal Electronic makes top-notch gear (excellent build quality), the Bob Katz concept makes sense, & I love transformers... So of course I ordered one : How are you digging this? I have some A-20's and Triad HS series transformers floating around that this looks like it'd be a great home for. Or at least better than just having them setup with pigtails.

Totally off topic… but anyone know how to contact plinker? He’s been absent for a bit, and I’m curious about his item for sale in classifieds. I’m friends with him on FB. If you’re still looking for him, I can DM him there for ya.

oh this thing sounds so sultry sweet! 32 hz never sounded so good. I gotta subject it to some frequency response investigations, not sure where the lustrous lusciousness is coming from. Maybe it's pre ringing and I just love that in analog domain on some material? Such an enigma!
