Steve Miller 1976? Guessing U87 or U67.
FWIW when I hear RE15/16... Am thinking more along the lines of Elvis Presley "Comeback Era' Sound, with Chips Moman etc. (Also Chess Records circa Late 60's/Early 70's. As RE15 and EV 666 were their main studio mics, during this period) Chris

Gotham GAC 3, 200m + the connectors. I'm setting up a not-that-mini setup at my grandma's place. She needs assistance. I'll arrange my little blips and bloops from her place for the next few months.

I mentioned this at the tail end of my own thread but just to document in here: bought what is supposed to be a well cared for, re-foamed RE 11. I’ve wanted something like an RE 15/16 for a couple years because I really like the sound of Fly Like an Eagle/Book of Dreams era Steve Miller Band, and this one is also intended to solve some more general vocal mic issues for what/where i’m recording these days. Was mixing the opening of a run of Best Little Whorehouse last night, went with RE15s on the brass for that '70s flavor, looks the part, sounds the part.

You're in good company, Chris!

Oh yes, I’ve wanted a pair for years …. decades even. I bought a pair of Meinl congas! 11” &12” on stands ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I’m trying to get rid of as many sampled instruments as I have space for. Mic recommendations?

I bought a Charter Oak SCL-1 at a good price on Reverb, and the seller did a terrible job packing it, and while it works it doesn't work 100%. He agreed to a refund and than said "if you give me $200 you can keep it" so I'm going to hang on to it and see if JMP Electronics still services them or I can find someone who does.
Also, I made a very impulsive purchase, but someone in town was selling an API The Box with a custom Sterling Modular desk and Skinny Fish Audio patch bay for an insane price and I took them up on it. I think it's going to be a nice solution for me mixing at home. I love the idea of 0dB fader bypass button for summing, and each channel having an insert really makes it an ideal. I don't really need mic preamps but just having 4 mic lines and DI's at home will be handy if "inspiration" strikes. I really wasn't looking but I'm hoping it'll be a nice improvement.

The casual console impulse buy haha ! Congrats ! I can’t pass up a good deal. It’s a pretty silly purchase, really. I have a Trident Series 70 but it’s 7’ long and too big for the house…I had it loaned to a friend but just got it back and it doesn’t fit anywhere except the laundry room! I also have an Auditronics Grandson I’ve been slowly restoring for the past couple years but ergonomically it’s a very uncomfortable console and is even more limited than the Box. I guess I just like consoles 😆

I haven't studied home ergonomics in decades. But I do remember... I just didn't fit in, with rest of the class. Well except for my main squeeze. Chris

A triangle. Treeworks HS06. Took more research and listening to clips than choosing my tube preamps

I just picked up another CAPI BT-50 EQ off Sweetwater's Gear Exchange. I wasn't really looking for one at this point, but to find a used one for less than what the kit would cost with the op amps is a steal. I was going to get another one eventually but wasn't in the market for one until I stumbled across this one. I can't NOT take advantage of those situations. Ok, I'm done buying recording gear this year.....again. I still want a hardware buss compressor but I have plugins that will work for now. I think the next thing I'm going to buy is another guitar. I want a Jazzmaster to add to the arsenal. Either that or something with P-90's on it like a SG or Les Paul Jr. or both. Gotta save my lunch money.

A decent hardware stereo bus compressor will make an otherwise ITB mix sound “analogue”. Then you’re done for this year ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Why do you need a compressor for one? Now I have to buy 2 more guitars AND a buss compressor. There are 2 empty spaces in my 500 rack. Can't have that. It's just not natural. I already have 16 guitars and I don't know where I'd put 2 more. My closets are full and they're under every bed in the house. I guess I can hang them from the ceiling. Too much acoustic treatment in the studio to hang them on the wall. I wonder if she'd go for building on a room just for guitars?

Bought an OTO Bebe Cherie. Love it. Sure, it's missing some key features, but it sounds great, the EQs on the channels are fun, the clipping is great, the overall compressor is musical (usually not too into fast attacks but it doesn't sound too squished to me on this box) and the overall EQ can get subtle to extreme. A very playable mixer, so I think I might perform / print sections, old school style, once the overall timbres / balances are approved by clients and splice it all together. I also have to mention Mountainking Pedals. Really nice sounding fuzzes / distortions that preserve low end - basically the ultimate heavy bass pedal company. But the pedals are useful for more than bass - synths will love them. The guy who makes the pedals is clearly all in and passionate about what he does. The Mountainking Magnetar is a trip, wow ! Which model are you using ? And the OTO bébé Chérie yes I have my eyes on this one... Fairly priced for what it does.

What a delightful treat! At first I thought it would be too complex for me, and then I got it and realized it's amazingly intuitive, then I got deeper into it and re-realized it's too complex for my skill level, then I got even more into it and have re-re-realized it actually is quite intuitive and a great sound can be had with some minor adjustments. I'm sure I'm going to continue to roller coaster with this one for a while, but I'm super glad I got it in my arsenal now. What a ride! Btw, now I'm jonesing for the tube version S73. Way outside my space but man that would be great to have the sound of tubes with the flexibility of the Drawmer 3 band. Stuff of dreams.

Strymon Iridium for a travel pedal board. with different IRs sounds great; have a DMC Micro Pro on order and with the new Nixie editor, will be great to have multiple amp sounds on tap. If you have one and don't like the punch setting, try swapping in a 1x12 Deluxe Reverb IR - for me it made the difference. Before that, bought a Tru-Fi Colordriver - this guy nails the old fuzz/overdrives, but added a volume knob which the old Colorboosts didn't have. For my Dr. Z amp it's all the pedal I need - and it's metal flake green! ![](//storage.proboards.com/5388330/thumbnailer/sARzbIzvlpiZ0vBSgJLO.png) ![](//storage.proboards.com/5388330/thumbnailer/cKuPQRsCecfPnpKgZqoT.png) Attachments:![](//storage.proboards.com/5388330/thumbnailer/cKuPQRsCecfPnpKgZqoT.png)

Thanks! -09 Hoping to use it this weekend on some drum sessions and a banjo session. I've only got vocal session for the next couple days. I will report back. It certainly is a nice looking mic. I hope is sounds good as well. My plan is Blumlein for drum room about 10' out.

Ordered a pair of Ingram Engineering 500 eq/filters and a pair of Kush Tweezers. I’m switching to a three-mic overhead setup, so I want more drum-friendly options.
I also sprang for the Zen Pro Phoenix DRS-Q4 preamp/eq deal.
I’ll be selling my single DRS-1R, LA500, PEQ500, and Cranborne Camden to make room in the rack. Hit me up if interested!
