A pair of GAP Comp 3A's. Don't have a true opto here. We'll see how they perform. Hard to argue with the price. I dug those when I had a pair.

I bought a big metal Xlarge cabinet to store my mics and stuff in. Just quickly put stuff in there to show the depth but will need to re-arrange my cupboards now.
It’s sad but the least slutty investments make life the easiest.

Bought a B-stock Komplete Kontrol S88 MK 2 from the Native Instruments Reverb store for $429. Being blown out with the MK 3 dropping and I don't have a hammer action 88 key controller. Will see a lot of action on live shows I'm providing for, when they need that random sampled instrument and I can grab a Kontakt library to cover it.
Also picked up the UAD Signature Bundle for $254 and paused my Spark subscription, not really a better deal but nice to not have a monthly reminder of what I spent on plug-ins...

Similar to leaving my mint U195 up still, in the RGO Classifieds. All goes (very) well later next year... Ben's FET or Tube C12 version on the Radar. Am looking forward to January NAMM! Chris

A few months back I bought a used Heiserman H47tube locally having only a quick try to test basic functionality in the sellers environment. I took it back to my place where I could really listen. With cardioid pattern selected it just seemed off, not a lot of life and playback brought no smile to face. I then tried omni and directionally it really wasn't omni, just strange. I tried a few different preamps, called the seller to get his thoughts: "must be your room reflections for the omni thing". In the end, I had no way to get my money back and daily routine stopped me from investigating for a while.
Finally, a month or so later I just decided to contact Heiserman and get their thoughts, they recommended I send it to them. SO THANKFUL I DID - they found that the rear diaphragm had "slipped" somehow (likely mishandling) and was wrinkled. They were nice enough to do the work under warranty as if I was the original owner (I just covered shipping), and in the end they opted to give me a completely new capsule instead of reskinning the old one. I would have been fine either way but....I just got the mic back today: INSTANT SMILE ON MY FACE!
A big shout out to Donald Best and Dave Wheeler at Heiserman --> I'm suddenly interested in maybe acquiring more Heiserman mics later. This is the kind of customer service (and mic quality!) that deserves accolades. Will be trying the M7 head basket later. Thanks Heiserman!

73% through building a Jeff Hedback designed room, one of two. It's been a journey but man, he's something special and great to work with. Trace Audio strips for Redco patchbays. Shout out to traceaudio Ben for the effort. Yards of Guilford of Maine fabric. Getting excited about this new setup.

Decided to send the Comp 3a's back. The mounting arrangement for the pair was too wonky. I thought I could mount them atop a rolling rack I have, but it was not to be.
So, I today instead ordered an Audioscape D3A. It's what I really wanted anyway. Just trying to save a few bucks with the GAP.
What the hell, right? You can't take it with you.

I’m sure the AS will sound great. Curious, did you use the Comp-3A’s at all?

I was not impressed with the rack joining arrangement. Kinda flimsy and poorly executed design. There were 3 parts included (plus extra screws for them) I couldn't even use. With more rack space here I could've probably made them work. There are some things I just don't have much patience for.

I can't find a 3A plug that sounds like them, and they look/feel like serious quality. I bought a second right after the I received the first. $600 (on sale) is a no-brainer. Everyone should have at least one. They are definitely in the "best buy" category, for me.

Attachment DeletedPicked up an Epiphone Serenader 12 string…companion for my Cortez. I'm not sure if the pick guard is original but I have seen them on a couple others. It's super thick like a 60's J45/J50
