It is a nice mic. My friend recorded all the acoustic guitars and vocals with it on this track. The acoustic guitar sounds fantastic. Especially the compression on it . . . which is a product of the mic and preamp delivering a good starting point of course. What was used for compressions? DBX 286.

Does the POM Boiler have any relation to the old Ridge Farm Boiler? Yes! Same designer, same base circuit but with extra mods/features and in a 2U enclosure. It has fully variable attack and release, a sidechain HPF, parallel blend, stereo link and a toggle for extra dirt (even-order harmonics). www.boilermk2.com/Great value and Pom is a joy to deal with. Ughh... Dont tell me this. It's priced so well too. I had a Ridge Farm Gas Cooker for awhile. Cool piece.

Exactly POM is a good friend and his gear has a lifelong warranty. I have his Fairchild and Pie compressors. Such a lovely genuine man, talented and modest for a Frenchman. He rebuilt the centre section of my desk for nothing and now it sounds fantastic. He does swear a lot but mostly in jest. It’s based on the SSL talkback compressor.

DAD Core 256 arrived after a multi-month wait. The studio is now fully Dante, and with 256 i/o at 48K, between DADman and Dante Controller I have god-like control over signal routing in and out of PT Ultimate. Connectivity is rock solid with minimal latency through the interface- 300 usec give or take according to Dante Controller. And that's only because one of my D/A converters has a minimum latency setting of 1 msec. If I could set all my A/D/As to 250 usec, network latency would be 50 usec, give or take! Amazing tech, this audio over IP stuff. It's a beautiful thing.

Hey Matt I 100% agree but lesson number 1# in adventers in Cobranet; redundant switches and other mundane IT stuff is worth it’s weight in Vintage u47’s!

I sort of accidentally ended up buying a Canon C200 this week as a B-Cam to my Canon C70.

I sort of accidentally ended up buying a Canon C200 this week as a B-Cam to my Canon C70. Mark, I just saw what a Ford Expedition can do to a C70, a guy covering the draft is renting an AirBnB in my building and as he was loading his soft bag into his Uhber at the new airport some guy ran over his kit. He’s using his IPhone to shoot and orderd a brand New Seahorse 720 after seeing me with a 710 full of mics.

OMG, that’s terrifying, Eric! Just a Reminder good cases are the cheapest and easiest insurance my friend, even a cheap Harbour Freight! I use Nanuk cases for cameras and lenses, or if it’s a small shoot, the camera and lenses are in a special bag on my back. When it’s how you make your living, you just can’t afford NOT to take care of your gear.

Picked up an Avid S1…I had one for awhile, got annoyed with my home set up and sold it, but I think I got the house to where I can confidently mix out of there confidently and automation with a mouse is a drag

Yeah I have a K47 Flat capsule from Arienne Audio kicking around, I may give that a shot. Appreciate everyone’s insights here. Not that simple remember a K67 needs EQ, a 47 capsule is flat. I went ahead and installed a Dachman DA-M7 capsule in the AEG U47 with the Telefunken ECH11 tube. Pleased with the results. AEG U47 with DA-M7 demo (processed)The mic breaks up early, very dependent on proximity. Before: Tricky: After:

Not gear really but something I'll enjoy more than anything.
After completely rebuilding and finally putting my Harrison Console back in service, the 42 year old armrest with ripped vinyl looked old and was uncomfortable to rest on.
So. I just bought half a cowhide to reupholster the armrest. It's going to be well padded for comfort with custom stitching.
It's time the old gal got a Designer Armrest.

She deserves it my friend I’m waiting for pictures! On a similar but not as impressive live note the DM1000 is getting a custom Zebra Wood set of side panels and dog house, or striped horse house!

Mount-It! mobile cart and a long HDMI cable...these seems like a much more affordable alternative to the Sound Anchor. We have a TV mounted to the wall at the studio and it's killing my eyes...it'll be nice to have something I can bring closer or an assistant can use. Also, a Whirlwind Gold Box for cheap. Seemed like the best MXR Distortion+ option out there.

That's a nice looking capsule. It appears to be a new offering from 3U : www.3uaudio.com/cp.asp?id=696I'm curious how much price difference there is from the 3U source?

Is this a new offering from 3U or that same M7 offering they’ve had for a few years now? On quick-glance, it’s the latter, but I really don’t know.
