Can you get their banner ad updated? It says something about VCA compression but it shows an 1176. Every time I see it I cringe. And other than that I have nothing but positive associations with AS. I am not affiliated with them now. I did bring it to their attention before. That advert is somewhat embarrassing, considering they know the difference. I still attest to the quality of the equipment and that the AS1290 is the best damned Neve style preamp I've ever used. I love all their gear I've used and own. Not a fan of the original dbx160vu but the AS 260 is a ringer for that 'splat' sound. I called it the Slap-Chop of the audio equipment world. If that's what you're after, it's the thing. Vance Powell and I had a couple chats about it and agreed, it nails it. I sure hope they make the 78 I've advocated for.

So that ws your decision! HAHA Why you still pimpin’ that AS? "GAS, grass, or AS". "Nobody vocal rides for free".* Back when I first was at Capitol Records, on the very first day... I sprained my finger! Riding the faders on the Main Console. (The security guard apologized later) Chris *Otherwise they might get WUP'd into shape.

These are really cool. It's a preamp and eq in one module.if you like the Helios sound you'll like these too.similar vibe ..but different. Basically an accurate recreation of the Original Olympic studios custom (pre Helios) Germanium wrap around console input channels(Olympic Studio 1 1966). OG Olympic tech Jim Dowler makes them with NOS parts. He was around there 'Back in the day" and good Pals with Chief engineer Keith Grant. His Olympic and Helios console knowledge is extensive.I learned a lot about Helios from him. www.audiodigitaltechnology.com

I sure hope they make the 78 I've advocated for. There's potentially a new 2u piece they're showing at NAMM, according to their Wednesday gear drop email. There's also a VU meter shown in the same email on a silver-ish faceplate. Not sure if it's related to the reveal, but just maybe...

The meter definitely copies the Urei logotype, but with AS name in place of Urei. So... Possibly a 78 to be released soon, yes, or a new iteration of the 1176 ?
-------------
I... Just lost it and bought a Coil Audio CA-286S. It will be my first Coil preamp.

SENNHEISER k6 with ME66 shotgun capsule. Why? Well I’m not doing much video but it was there the price was right and I don’t currently own a lightsaber!

Dunno why, but I felt compelled to buy a Blue Baby Bottle. And for $180, how could I refuse?

SL? Mine was kinda Blah, on me. So I gave it as a gift, to a husband and wife... Since they could use it better than me. Chris P.S. The original Latvian ones are hard to find nowadays.

AMS DMX 15-80. Good shape and hopefully won't need to send to Kulka but we'll see. Took a realistic offer which was cool. Now I just need a studio again, lol.

Picked up a few things at an estate sale...Tapco 4400 spring reverb, a bunch of Mogami and Fishman Asterope cables and snakes, a big box of percussion, keyboard stand, nice Atlas style mic stand, and a couple SKB rack cases...
Separately bought a Catalinbread Karma Sutra pedal, one of many pedals that'll just sit on the shelf and maybe someone will use it once every 5 years 😛

Ok, well my Monoprice LR100 ribbons actually came in. I guess I got 'em just under the wire?
Haven't tried them out yet (I got four at $25 ea) but as someone else said, the cases alone are valuable to me in the worst case scenario. First mic I looked at seemed a bit wonky in construction (head basket not centered with the body) but hey, you get what you pay for!

Functioning? Working but I’m going to replace all the faders with Bourns using custom PCB boards sold by CCTV. I happened to have a set already…done it before and it makes such a huge difference in the noise and functionality because like old Urei graphics these plastic faders are shot. I’m probably not going to keep it…this is probably the third or fourth one I’ve owned. They do sound great but I really don’t need another outboard spring reverb at the moment. More of a fun, quick project. www.cctv.fm/post/tapco-4400

A nice big Penn Elcom order, bunch of M6 rack screws, couple of shelves, handful of 1 space rail mounts. Neutrik NLFASTON crimp connectors for speakons, Neutrik Plastite Screwes for mounting Chassis mount connectors and 2 , 2 space panels punched for 32 D connectors. I can mount these behind the Amps in the rack leavening the punches directly behind the fans open use a bunch for connectors and use the open screw holes by the fans to create a third up down route for cables ( power right rails l, line level middle anchors, left rail speaker cable.
I have been thinking about a couple of Furman P8 Pro C conditioners ( 20 amp SMP and LIFT) but I would want to replace the Edison connectors with Neutrik Powercon True 1 Top ( 20amp locking and hot patchable. I really need to talk to SVART about replacing the cords on a bunch of STEWART amps with Powercon True 1 tops just so I can cut all AC cables to length. But I grabbed a used ATM25 instead.
Also a bunch of Canare; 50 ft of L4-e6s Purple, 35 feet of 4s11 Black speaker cable and since the original vendor is back ordered on 4s6 for Martins phones extension 25 ft of 4s6 for Martins cable.

I recently added a couple Lauten LS 208's to complement the 308's I have. Doing more live/keeper tracking here, so these should work nicely. I'm impressed with the LS 208 on vocals, as are the couple artists I've had the occasion to try them on. Want to try them on electric guitar...acoustic, too.
I also picked up a Marhall 1960BX cab with Greenbacks. I was lacking that 4 x 12 flavor here in the shop; so, happy to find this 'as new' on a good deal.
ETA: I picked up a United 47fet as well!

A drummer friend sold me a Giant Beat 24" Multi at a great price...it was a spare he's had sitting around for over a decade. Nice to finally have a "ride" to go with my 15" hi-hat's and 20"

Nice to finally have a "ride" to go with my 15" hi-hat's and 20" Such a great ride. I play 15, 18, 20 and 24 myself. But I will replace the 18 with a 22. I used to play the 2002 series (15, 22, 24crash and 24ride) and they sound great but are a little on the bright side in the studio. Giant Beat became instantly my favorite cymbals when i first got my hands on them. The wash is amazing. The big beat is an interesting series to. Sounds to me it sits somewhere between the 2002 and Giant Beat, like a darker 2002 maybe.

I traded it for a snare drum. But I was always interested in trying it with a 18" Thin to hear what it sound like as giant hi-hats!

That was I like about the Giant Beat hats...they are pretty quiet and don't bleed into snare mics too much, and they aren't so dark they sound like trash can lids (in fact they aren't dark at all).
